N55 closed as motorcyclist (40s) dies following tragic Cavan road crash
Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 3:10pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 on the main Cavan to Ballinagh road (N55) at Corlurgan in County Cavan.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other injuries to persons was reported.
The N55 at Corlurgan is currently closed with local diversions in place.
The road is expected to remain closed overnight and into tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
The services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to conduct a technical examination of the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N55 in the Corlurgan area between 3pm and 3:30pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
