The Longford community is in mourning after the passing of a lady described as "kind and generous".

Sympathies have been offered to Helen Kelly's husband Eddie, their sons Enda, Fergus and Glen and their families following her sad and untimely death, which occurred following a short illness at Mullingar General Hospital on Wednesday, November 22.

Helen was a lovely, kind, gentle, generous lady who was always ready to help when needed and she will be sadly missed by her neighbours and many friends for a long time to come.

Helen was a native of Strokestown, Co Roscommon and she was predeceased by her parents, sisters Veronica and Caroline, and recently by her brother in law Pat Burke.

Helen reposed in Our Lady's Manor on Friday evening and large crowds passed through to support her family and to say farewell to a loving wife mother and grandmother.

St Mary's Church in Granard was packed for her funeral mass on Saturday after which she was laid to rest in Granardkille new cemetery.

Sympathy is extended to Helen's husband Edward, sons Enda, Glen and Fergus, daughters-in-law Michelle, Joanne and Anna, grandchildren Darragh, Lucy, Olivia, Mark, Jack, Erin, Adam, Freya, Sarah and Ben, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and wide circle of friends and special neighbours.

May she rest in peace.
