Sr Margaret Oates, Convent of Mercy, St Joseph's Road, Longford / Dromod, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family and the Mercy Community, in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and care staff in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, April 5, 2026 of Sr Margaret Oates, Convent of Mercy, St Joseph's Road, Longford and formerly of Derrycarne, Dromod, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her parents, Molly and Charlie, brother Sean, her nephew Rory and members of the Oates and Ellis families. Sr Margaret will be forever missed and always remembered by her loving family, sisters Joan, Teasie, Frances and her brother Tom, brothers-in-law Paddy and Tommy, sister-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, friends and the Sisters of Mercy, Western Branch. May Sr Margaret Rest in Peace. 

Reposing in the Convent Chapel, Convent of Mercy, St Joseph’s Road Longford (N39C4E4) on Tuesday, April 7 from 5.30pm concluding with prayers 7pm.

Removal from the Convent Chapel on Wednesday, April 8 to arrive to St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery, Longford. Mass can be viewed live HERE. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

James Grimes, Cornaughy, Carrigallen, Leitrim, H12 D932 / Longford

The death occurred peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, April 3, 2026 of James Grimes, Cornaughy, Carrigallen, Leitrim, H12 D932 / Longford. 

Predeceased by his wife Betty, parents John and Catherine,brothers JP and Liam, sisters Mary and Maggie (Brady). James will be forever missed by his adoring family son Gerry, daughters Helena (McGovern), Martina (Maxwell), Fiona (Geoghegan) and Anne-Louise (Kelly), brothers Tommy, Joe and Mel, sisters Nelly (Farrell) and Kathleen (Reynolds), sons-in-law Jimmy, Felim, John and Damien grandchildren Andrew, Elisha, Conor, Darren, Aideen, Liam, Tess and James, great-grandsons Senan, Peadar, Dessie and Eoghan nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. May James Rest in Peace. 

Reposing at his residence on Saturday, April 4 from 5pm until 8pm and on Sunday, April 5 from 5pm until 8pm. House private at all other times,except for family, neighbours and close friends,

Removal from his residence on Monday, April 6 to arrive at St Mary's Church, Carrigallen Co Leitrim, for funeral mass at 12 noon. Funeral Mass can be viewed live HERE. Kay Walsh, Clonsilla, Dublin / Kenagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of family and staff at St Joseph’s Centre, Clonsilla on Friday, April 3, 2026 of Kay Walsh, Clonsilla, Dublin 15 and formerly of Derryhaun, Kenagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Ann and Michael, brother Michael, nephew Colin and brother-in-law Oliver. Sadly missed by her loving brothers John, Colm, Stephen, Paddy and Josie, sisters Mary and Margaret, sisters-in-law Pauline, Pauline, Bridie, Kim and Cáit, nieces, nephews, relatives, all the staff and friends at St. Joseph’s and her wide circle of friends.

Funeral Mass in St Joseph’s Chapel, Clonsilla on Thursday morning, April 9 at 11am followed by cremation at Newlands Cross Crematorium. Mary Kirwin (née Flynn), Howth, Dublin / Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff at Beaumont Hospital on Friday, April 3, 2026 of Mary Kirwin (née Flynn), Howth, Dublin and formerly Ballymahon, Co Longford. 

Beloved wife of Joseph (Joe) and loving mother to Paula, Joanne, Elaine, Brian and David. Predeceased by her parents Jimmy and Dorrie, her brother Liam, her baby grand-children Conor and Kate, her brothers-in-law Rusty and Aidan and her nephew Cian.

Mary will be very sadly missed by her husband, sons and daughters, sons-in-law Paul, Henry and John, daughters-in-law Ciara and Susan, grandchildren Daniel, Ciaran, Shane, Emily, Ben, Killian, Grace, David, Erin, Ailbhe, Joseph, Jacob, Isaac, Samuel and Matthew, brothers Brendan and Paddy, sisters Helen, Úna, Catherine, Sinéad and Michelle, brothers-in-law Frank and Tom, sisters-in-law Marie, Oonagh and Catherine, beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and wonderful neighbours.

Bridget (Teresa) Doyle, Tailteann Lane, Navan, Meath / Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 of Bridget (Teresa) Doyle, Tailteann Lane, Navan, Meath and formerly of Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband Michael, parents Tom and Mary, brothers and sisters. Bridget will be sadly missed by her loving children Anthony, Mickey, Paddy, Mary and Tommy, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May Bridget Rest in Peace. 

Reposing at her home on Monday, April 6 from 3pm followed with removal at 5.45pm to arrive at St Mary's Church, Navan for evening prayers at 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning, April 7 at 10am (livestream). Burial afterwards in St Finian's Cemetery, Old Athboy Road, Navan.

Nancy Kenny (née Reilly), Kilcogy lower, Kilcogy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital on Saturday, April 4, 2026 of Nancy Kenny (née Reilly), Kilcogy lower, Kilcogy, Cavan. 

Predeceased by her husband Mark, parents Pat and Bridget, sister Mary, brothers Paddy and Joe. Sadly missed by her niece, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Reilly's Funeral home Kilcogy (N39W1D6) on Monday evening, April 6 from 6.30pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 7 at 11am in Our Lady's of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran. Greig Petrie, Mohill, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, in his 96th year, following a long and happy life, with his loving family nearby and in the excellent care of the staff at Arus Carolan Nursing Home, Mohill, on Saturday, April 4, 2026 of Greig Petrie, Mohill, Leitrim. 

Greig will be dearly missed by his loving wife Doreen (née Humphrey's), his children Cora, John and Alexander, partners Dave and Sarah and his much loved grandchildren Liam, Oscar and Rory, his niece Adele and nephews Greg, John and Ian, relatives and friends. Predeceased by his sister Jean and his parents Walter and Ruby. May he sleep in heavenly peace. 

Reposing at Farnaught Church (N41 HO29) on Tuesday, April 7 from 7pm to 8pm. House private please. Greig’s life will be celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 8 in Farnaught Church, followed by cremation afterwards in Lakeland's Crematorium Cavan (H12 RF78) at 3pm. Mary Bridget Donnelly (née Reynolds), Cornagon, Keshcarrigan, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at Sligo University Hospital, in her 97th year on Saturday, April 4, 2026 of Mary Bridget Donnelly (nee Reynolds) Cornagon, Keshcarrigan, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her husband Patrick and her sisters & brothers. She will be sadly missed by her family, Mary (Wayne), P.J. (Millie), Bernadette (T.P.) Tony (Paula), Noeleen (Michael), her grandchildren Shauna, Amy, Tayna, Ryan, Aaron, Niamh & Róisín, Ciara, Ciarán, Eoin, Alyssa & Chloe, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at Smith's Funeral Home, High St., Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim N41 TD62 on Easter Monday evening, April 6 from 6pm until 8pm. Removal from her home in Cornagon on Tuesday morning, April 7 arriving at St. Mary's Church, Foxfield for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Fenagh Abbey cemetery. James (Jimmy) Murphy, Drumbreanlis, Carrigallen, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Sligo University Hospital and Lough Erril Nursing Home on Thursday, April 2, 2026 of James (Jimmy) Murphy, Drumbreanlis, Carrigallen, Leitrim. 

Predeceased by his parents James and Margaret. his sister Mae, brothers Packie, Francie and Michael. May he Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Lough Erril Nursing Home, Mohill on Monday evening, April 6 from 6.30pm until 8pm. Funeral mass in St Mary's Church, Carrigallen, H12 AK84, at 11am Tuesday morning, April 7 followed by interment in Errew cemetery. No flowers please. Phyl (Philomena) Davidson (formerly Stephens) (née O'Gorman), Carrigallen, Leitrim / Finglas, Dublin

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family and in the exceptional care of the staff at Newpark Care Centre on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 of Phyl (Philomena) Davidson (formerly Stephens) (née O'Gorman), Carrigallen, Co Leitrim and formerly of Finglas, Dublin 11. 

Beloved wife of the late Tony Stephens and Samuel Davidson and cherished and much loved mother of Derek, Adrienne, Michelle, Philip, Yvonne, Tony and the late Frank. Sadly missed by her loving sons, daughters, grandchildren Samantha, Michelle, Jill, Steph, Simon, Tony, David, Amy, Keith, Bex, Katie, John, Jenny and Ryan, great-grandchildren, son-in-law Joe, daughter-in-law Claire, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Sr Thérése O’Neill, Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in Birmingham Hospital aged 80 on Saturday, March 21, 2026 of Sr Thérése (Peggy) O’Neill, 94 Selly Park Road, Selly Park, Birmingham B297LL and formerly of Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan.

Predeceased by her parents Michael and Ellen O’Neill, sister Roisin (O’Reilly, Golf Links Road, Cavan), brother Paddy (Dublin), nephews Michael and Brian. Deeply regretted by sisters Eileen (McGovern, Legaginny, Ballinagh), Mary (Rafter, Newtownforbes), brother Michael (Ballyhaise), sisters-in-law Bridie (O’Neill, Ballyhaise), Teresa (O’Neill, Dublin), nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and Sisters of The Charity of St. Paul, Selly Park Birmingham. Rest in Peace.

Sr Thérése’s (Peggy’s) funeral Mass will take place in St Paul’s Convent, Selly Park, Birmingham on Wednesday, April 22 at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. The funeral Mass can be viewed online at: http://chapel.sellypark.org The Password is all lower case dupuis

A Memorial Mass for Sr Thérése (Peggy) will be held in St Mary’s Church, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan on Sunday, April 12 at 10.30am.

Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 of Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Rugeley Staffordshire UK and formerly of Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan.

Predeceased by his wife Margaret, infant daughter Marie, parents James and Maisie and brothers Jim (Australia) and Mattie (UK). 

Noel is survived by his sons Martin (Carolyn) and son William, Colin (Michelle) and sons Gary and Terry, all UK.

Sisters Rosaleen Callaghan (Newport, Co. Mayo), Maura Walsh (Granard, Co. Longford), Dympna Molloy, (Swellan Cavan), Una Graham (Glenlara Cavan) and Seán (Drumcrave, Cavan). Sisters-in-law Jean McKiernan (Australia) Jackie Mc Kiernan (Australia) and Mary Mc Kiernan (UK), his adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Noel's Requiem Mass will be on Thursday,  April 9 in St. Joseph's Church, Rugeley, Staffordshire WS15 2EH followed by cremation at Stafford Crematorium ST16 3AQ. "Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam".
