Patsy Higgins (née Creegan), Ballinamuck, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the exceptional care of the staff of the Glencar Unit, Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford on Friday, March 13, 2026 of Patsy Higgins (née Creegan), Ballinamuck, Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Doty, and her brother Sean. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Ian, daughter-in-law Catherine, cherished granddaughter Ava, beloved sister and lifelong friend Betty, sister-in-law Carol, brother Seamus, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. May she Rest in Peace. 

Reposing at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home Chapel (N39 XE92) on Sunday, March 15 from 5pm, concluding with prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, March 16 at 12 noon in St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamuck, followed by burial in Ballinamuck New Cemetery. The Mass will be streamed live HERE.

Tommy Farrell, Brannigan, Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly in Castlebar University Hospital, Co Mayo surrounded by his heartbroken family on Friday, March 13 of Tommy Farrell, Brannigan, Ballymahon, Longford and formerly of Castlerea Mountain, Moydow, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents, sisters Mary Canny and Agnes Greene, brothers Jimmy, Paddy and his infant brother John Mel and his son-in-law John.

Tommy will be sadly missed and forever remembered by all who loved him dearly, his wife and best friend Agnes, daughters Marie and Annette (UK), son Thomas (Ballymahon), daughter-in-law Deirdre, son-in-law Stephen, his adored grandchildren Emma, Hayley, Connor, Brogan, Billy, Madeleine, Kiera, Niamh, Leila, Malachy and his great-grandchildren Jaiden, Taylor-May, Reggie, Tommy, Ava and Mia, sisters-in-law Margaret, Kitty, Ann and Frances, brothers-in-law Michael (UK), Liam (Ballyforan) and Terry (UK), nieces,nephews, cousins, neighbours and great friends.

Thinking of you Tommy is easy, We will do it every day, But missing you will be a heartache, That will never go away. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in his family home (Brannigan) on Sunday, March 15 from 3pm until 7pm. Removal from his home on Monday, March 16 to arrive to St Matthew's Church, Ballymahon for Funeral Mass at 1pm Following Mass, Tommy will be laid to rest in Moydow cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to the ICU of Castlebar University Hospital, Co Mayo or COPD c/o Connell Funeral Directors or any family member.

Peter Kane, Carrigeen, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 14, 2026 of Peter Kane, Carrigeen, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Ellen, brother Jim, mother-in-law Mary Lizzie McCoppin and by his infant twin sisters. Peter will be forever missed and remembered by his loving family, wife and best friend Marian, children Edel (Casey), Donal, Yvonne and Louise, daughter-in-law Geraldine, son-in-law Brian, grandchildren Carrie, Brean, Danny, Hollie and Emme, sisters Anne (Victory), Úna, Helen (Ward), Mary (Bartley) and Beatrice (McEvoy), brother Tom, sisters-in-law Nora, Ann and Margaret, brothers-in-law Kevin, Noel and Ned, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many dear friends.

Your life was love and labour, your love for family true, You did your best for all us, we will always love and remember you. 

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, March 15 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, March 16 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Moydow cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Breda Mulvihill (née Higgins), Ledwithstown, Ballymahon, Longford / Westmeath

The death occurred suddenly at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 13, 2026 of Breda Mulvihill (née Higgins), Ledwithstown, Ballymahon, Longford / Westmeath and formerly Tang, Co Westmeath.


Beloved and devoted wife of Paddy, and much-loved mother of Damien, Stephen, Niall, Liam and Mark. Breda will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her, daughters-in-law Claire, Antoinette, Louise and Dot, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren Michaela, Amber, Bobbie, Ellie, Sienna, Max, Skye, Sonny, Conor, Nathan and Darci, her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many friends.

Breda’s kindness, warmth and love for her family will never be forgotten and her memory will be treasured always. May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing at her residence (N39 Y525) on Sunday afternoon, March 15 from 4pm until 8pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, March 16 in St Dominic's Church Kenagh at 12 noon followed by burial in Kilcommock cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully in the care of the staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 15, 2026 of Jim Mulligan, Enaghan, Aughnacliffe, Longford.

Joe Donlon, Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Roscommon / Charlestown, Mayo

The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at the Orthopaedic unit of Mayo University Hospital on Thursday, March 12, 2026 of Joe Donlon, Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Roscommon / Charlestown, Mayoy. 

Predeceased by his parents Tim and Mary and brother Timmy. Sadly missed by his loving family wife Maureen (nee Finn), sons Enda, Niall, Shane, daughter Lorraine, brother Gerry, sisters Mary and Ann, Grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, his seven stepchildren and fourteen grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace .

Joe will repose at the Horkan funeral home (F12D393) Charlestown on Monday evening, March 16 from 5pm to 6.30pm. Removal from his home in Ballyleague on Wednesday morning, March 18 to the church of the holy Rosary for funeral mass at 11am followed by private cremation. Mass can be viewed HERE

 

Kathleen Garry (née Keaney), Drumhawragh, Loughduff, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff of Lisdarn Unit Cavan on Saturday, March 14, 2026 of Kathleen Garry (née Keaney), Drumhawragh, Loughduff, Co Cavan. 

Kathleen will be very sadly missed by her husband and best friend John Joe, sons James, Johnny, Benny and Shane, daughters Mary and Denise, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren Paige, Jayden, Lilly, Aoife and Orlaith, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Lakeland’s Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan H12RF78 on Wednesday, March 18 from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held on Thursday, March 19 at 11am in Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan. All welcome to call to Lakeland’s Funeral Home from 10.30am. Followed by cremation.

Larry Cadden, Drumhowna, Loughduff, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his his loving family and in the kind and compassionate care of the staff at the Mater Hospital Dublin, after an illness bravely fought on Saturday, March 14, 2026 of Larry Cadden, Drumhowna, Loughduff, Cavan. 

Predeceased by his parents Dominick and Rose and his siblings, John, Mary and Noel. Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Mairead, devoted father to Larry (Fiona), Dominic (Aoife), Valene (Darragh), Lauren (Nathan), Sean (Lauren), and grandfather to Loughlin. sisters Ann Smith (Ballinagh), and Bridie (Jack) York (Moydow), brothers Paddy, Dominick (Gay), Gerry (Mary), Jim (Maura) and Martin. brothers in law, sisters in law. He will be fondly remembered by cousins nieces, nephews, grand nephews, grandnieces, close friends and neighbours.

Bridget Lyons (née Tully), Killycannon, Ballinagh, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff of Castlemanor nursing home, Cavan on Saturday, March 14, 2026 of Bridget Lyons (née Tully), Killycannon, Ballinagh, Cavan, in her 97th year. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Jimmy, son Sean and his wife Philomena. Sadly missed by her loving sons Tommy (Kathleen) and Jimmy (Breege), daughter Breda (John Connolly), her adored 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May She Rest In Peace.

Reposing at the home of her daughter Breda and son in law John Connolly, Drumalee, Cavan on Sunday, March 15 for family, neighbours and close friends, from 3pm until 7pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday (St Patrick’s day) at 1pm in St Felim's Church, Ballinagh, Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Mass will be live streamed HERE

Martina McNulty (née O’Rourke), Kenagh, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 1, 2026 of Martina McNulty (nee O’Rourke), Richmond, Surrey, UK and formerly of The Abbey, Kenagh, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her parents Jack and Maeve O’Rourke and her brothers Dermott and Donal. Martina will be deeply missed by her husband David and her children Sonya, Elisa, Natalie, Lucy and Tim, her siblings Pat and Maeve and her many grandchildren. Martina was a dearly beloved member of her family and will be much missed by many.

Martina will lie in repose at her home in Richmond from 6 to 8pm on Monday, March 23. Martina’s Funeral will be held at St. Elizabeth of Portugal Church at 11am on Tuesday, March 24.

Margaret Brady (née Livingston), Kildallogue Heights, Strokestown, Roscommon / Enniscorthy, Wexford

The death occurred in the loving care of all the staff at Roscommon Hospice on Saturday, March 14, 2026 of Margaret Brady (née Livingston), Kildallogue Heights, Strokestown, Roscommon / Enniscorthy, Wexford. 

Beloved wife of the late Richard and much loved mother of Martin, Richard & Kathleen and adored grandmother of Shauna, Ciara, Adam and Daragh. Margaret will be sadly missed by her sorrowing family, sisters Mary, Kathleen & Patricia, brothers T.J, Liam, Martin, Mick, Aidan & Dinny, nephews, nieces, son-in-law John, daughters-in-law Caroline and Kathleen, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Margaret is predeceased by her husband Richard, her parents Bob & Mary Livingston, her sisters Nancy & Eileen and by her brothers Noel & Jimmy. Rest In Peace. 

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72), on Sunday, March 15 from 5pm until 7pm, followed by removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown. Funeral Mass on Monday, March 16 at 11am. Burial afterwards in Strokestown Cemetery.

Sarah Gilford (née Treacy), Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK / Elphin Street, Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred in Vale Court Care Home after a long illness bravely borne on Saturday, February 14, 2026 of Sarah Gilford (nee Treacy) Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK/ Elphin Street, Strokestown, Roscommon. 

She will be sadly missed by her sister Elizabeth, brothers Michael, Pat, Willie & Jimmy, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, great grand-nieces, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends. Sarah is predeceased by her husband Peter, daughter Gemma Louise, parents Willie & Sarah, sister Marie O'Goan and by her brother-in-law Oliver Carroll. Rest In Peace.

Sarah's Funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 17 in St Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Hooton, Liverpool, at 1pm, followed by burial in Overpool Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held for Sarah in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, on Saturday, March 14 at 12 noon.

Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 of Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Rugeley Staffordshire UK and formerly of Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan.

Predeceased by his wife Margaret, infant daughter Marie, parents James and Maisie and brothers Jim (Australia) and Mattie (UK). 

Noel is survived by his sons Martin (Carolyn) and son William, Colin (Michelle) and sons Gary and Terry, all UK.

Sisters Rosaleen Callaghan (Newport, Co. Mayo), Maura Walsh (Granard, Co. Longford), Dympna Molloy, (Swellan Cavan), Una Graham (Glenlara Cavan) and Seán (Drumcrave, Cavan). Sisters-in-law Jean McKiernan (Australia) Jackie Mc Kiernan (Australia) and Mary Mc Kiernan (UK), his adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Noel's Requiem Mass will be on Thursday,  April 9 in St. Joseph's Church, Rugeley, Staffordshire WS15 2EH followed by cremation at Stafford Crematorium ST16 3AQ. "Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam".
