The death occurred peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving familyon Thursday, January 29, 2026 of James Mahon, Micknagh, Killoe, Longford. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Margaret, brother Francey, brothers-in-law Mike Prunty and Mickey Quinn and his nephews Johnathan Mahon and Richie Quinn.

James will be sadly missed and forever remembered with love by his family, his wife and best friend Teresa, daughters Geraldine, Mary, Angela and Teresa, son James, daughter-in-law Aisling (née Carr), sons-in-law Liam Macken, Tony Finn and Eddie Quinn, his cherished grandchildren Conor, Orla, Darragh, Niall, Enda, Aideen, Clodagh, Oisín and Páidí, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, his good neighbours and dear friends.

Your life was love and labour, Your love for your family true, You did your best for all of us, We will always remember you. Rest in Peace James.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church St, Longford N39KN66 on Friday, January 30 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Removal from his home on Saturday, January 31 to arrive to St Mary's Church, Ennybegs, Killoe, N39AH01 for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, James will be laid to rest in Cullyfad cemetery. Quiney Fay (née Boyhan), St Jude's, Minerocks, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 26, 2026 of Quiney Fay (nee Boyhan), St Jude’s, Minerocks, Ballinalee Road, Longford and formerly of Rochfortbridge. 

Predeceased by her parents, sisters, brothers and by her grand-daughter Alison. Quiney will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, beloved husband Pat, daughters Caroline O’Rourke, Antoinette O’Brien, Imelda Hynes, Noeleen McCarthy, Denise Bell and Áine Dooley, sons Vincent, Kevin and Paddy, her brother Tom, daughters-in-law Lorraine, Deirdre and Aislinn, sons-in-law Frank, Aidan, Stephen, Ken, Stephen and George, grandchildren Thomas, Emily, Louise, Elliot, Orlagh, Eimear, Aoife, Dylan, Isabelle, Daniel, Hannah, Lucy, Sophie, Ethan, Adam, Amy, Ryan, Jake, Chloe, Sarah, Katie, Sebastian and Senan, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her home (N39 Y8N4) on Thursday, January 29 from 5pm until 8.30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Friday,  January 30 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery.

The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE.  Family flowers only please donations if desired to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland HERE. The House is private outside of reposing times please. There is parking available at Glennon’s Funeral Home (N39 EC81), which is in close proximity to the family home. We would encourage people to park there and walk to the house following the directions of the stewards.

Christina Duffy (née Masterson), Teffia Park, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of St Joseph’s Care Centre, surrounded by her family, on Monday, January 26, 2026 of Christina Duffy (née Masterson), Teffia Park, Longford Town, Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband Johnnie and by her son Frankie. Christina will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughter Yvonne McCormack (Longford), sons Eddie (Naas), Patrick (Swords), Johnnie (Lanesboro) and Joe (Longford), sister Sally (Kilcommons), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Friday, January 30 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, January 31 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 1pm, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery.

Rev Fr Michael McGrath, Blackrock, Cork / Abbeyshrule, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in the exceptional care of all the medical staff and community at the African Missions, Blackrock Road, Cork on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 of Rev Fr Michael McGrath, SMA, Society of African Missions, Blackrock Road, Cork and late of Ratharney, Abbeyshrule, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary (née Kelly), his sisters Maureen (Dillon) and Rose (Brennan). Fr Mick will be sadly missed by his brother Joe (Navan), his sister Kathleen (O'Sullivan, Valleymount, Co Wicklow) Sr Eileen, The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (Ghana), nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, the people of Sokoto and Kaduna dioceses, Nigeria, his confreres in the Society of African Missions, his religious sisters in The Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles and his dear colleague Sr Nicole Grégoire, a Canadian Sister of Africa.

Reposing at the SMA House, Blackrock Road, Cork from 4pm on Thursday, January 29 with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Friday January 30 at 11.30am to the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Abbeyshrule, Co Longford arriving at 6pm. Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Saturday, January 31 with burial afterwards in Carrickedmond Cemetery. Requiescat in Pace.

Rose Marie Garvey (née O'Neill), Ballymun Road, Dublin / Drumlish, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the staff of the Ardmore by Carechoice Nursing Home in her 93rd year on Monday, January 26, 2026 of Rose Marie Garvey (née O’Neill), Ballymun Road, Parkside Hotel, North Circular Road, Searsons Pub, Portobello, Garvey’s Corner Pub, The Royal Hotel, Howth, Drumlish, Co Longford, and New York, USA.  

Predeceased by her loving husband Eugene, sister Dolores, and her beloved parents Rosetta and James Patrick O’Neill. She will be sadly missed by her partner and carer Brian Harris, her nieces Rose Mary, Dolores and Bernadette, nephew James, brother-in-law Thomas Moriarty, sister-in-law Peggy McGovern, extended family, and many wonderful friends. Rest in Peace.

Vincent (Kevin) McCreanor, Hackney, London and formerly Templemichael Terrace, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly at home on Friday, December 19, 2025 of Vincent (Kevin) McCreanor, Hackney, London and formerly of Templemichael Terrace, Longford town, County Longford.

Pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Mary Frances, by his brothers Tony, Raymond, Gerry, Frankie, Michael, Patsy, Jimmy, Brendan and Liam and sister Rosemarie. Kevin will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sister Marie Hayes, brother Clement, Godsons Kevin and James, stepchildren Gary, Avril and Jeff, nieces, nephews, relatives and many good friends. May he rest in peace

Judy Pearse (née Orr), Delgany Wood, Delgany, Wicklow / Longford / Dublin

The death occurred at St. Vincent’s Hospital Elm Park on Monday, January 26, 2026 of Judy Pearse (née Orr), late of Delgany Wood, Delgany, Co Wicklow. Predeceased by her beloved husband David, beautiful granddaughter Leah, dear brother David and her special cousin Sue.

She will be sadly missed by her children Fiona, Shauna, Vanessa, Perrin and Garret, her sister Val, her many grandchildren, three sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, the extended family, neighbours and friends. A special word of thanks to the amazing staff in the Sugarloaf Care Centre, Kilmacanogue, who cared for Judy with compassion and kindness for the past fourteen months.

At Judy’s request, a private funeral service will take place in the coming days. A memorial event to celebrate her life will be held in the coming weeks and will be announced closer to the date.

Anne Marie Brady (née Clyne), Boardsmill, Trim, Meath / Rathowen, Westmeath

The death occurred suddenly at her home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 of Anne Marie Brady (née Clyne), Boardsmill, Trim, Co Meath and formerly of Rathowen, Westmeath. Predeceased by her dear brother, Michael.

Anne Marie will be very sadly missed and always remembered by her adored daughter Molly, her mother Anne Marie (Clyne), her sisters Fiona, Sylvia and brother John. Also sadly missed and fondly remembered by Molly's father Eamon, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Forever loved and always remembered. 

Funeral Service will take place in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan (H12 RF78) at 3pm on Saturday, January 31.

Sr Elizabeth Mears, Stillorgan, Dublin / Ballymahon, Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully in Beech Park Convent, surrounded by her community on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 of Sr Elizabeth Mears, Daughters of the Cross, Beech Park Convent, Stillorgan, Co Dublin and formerly of Tang, Ballymahon, Co Westmeath. Predeceased by her parents James and Mary, siblings Mary Rose, Pat, Joe, Sr Josephine and Sr Sarah.

May she rest in peace. Reposing at Beech Park Convent on Friday, January 30 from 4:30pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, January 31 at 10:30am, followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery.

 

Bridget Ledwith (née Shanley), Clonulty, Ballydangan, Athlone, Roscommon / Ballinasloe, Galway

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff in St Brendan's CNU, Creagh, Ballinasloe on Monday, January 26, 2026 of Bridget Ledwith (nee Shanley) Clonulty, Ballydangan, Athlone, Roscommon.

Affectionately known as Bridie/Addie. Predeceased by her sisters Philomena, Marion and Madeline. Bridie will be sadly missed by her loving husband Tom, her sons Wayne and Garret, her daughter Louise (McDonnell, Ahascragh), her son-in-law Tom and her cherished grandchildren Conor, Kieran, Johnny and Daragh. Bridie is also deeply missed by her family, brothers Tommie (Longford), Charlie (Killashandra) and Michael (Bornacoola), sisters Ann (Bornacoola) and Sadie (Mullingar), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Bridie will repose in Grenham's Funeral Home, Ballinasloe (H53 HK15), on Thursday, January 29 from 5pm to 7pm, with removal afterwards to St. Mary’s Church, Moore (N37 XH52). The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her heartbroken family, in the exceptional care of the staff and palliative care of Esker Rí Nursing Home, Clara, Co Offaly on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 of Ann Spollen Ladywell, Glasson, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by her beloved parents John and Nan and her brother-in-law Bernard Cassells. Dearly loved sister of Hannah Cassells, Rose Quigley and Frances Mullins. Sadly missed by her brothers-in-law Peter Quigley and Martin Mullins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, great grandnephews, in-laws, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tubberclaire on Friday, January 30 at 11am followed by burial afterwards in the Adjoining Cemetery. House private on Friday morning, January 30 please. The family greatly appreciates your sympathy and support at this very difficult time.

Veronica McGrath, Lower Coole, Coole, Westmeath

The death occurred at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Friday, January 23, 2026 of Veronica McGrath, Lower Coole, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, 

Sadly missed by her sons, daughter, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Veronica Rest In Peace.

Reposing at the Mullingar Hospital Mortuary, Castlepollard Road, Mullingar on Friday, January 30 from 10am to 11am, followed by removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coole for 12 noon Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in Whitehall Cemetery.
