The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his adoring family on Thursday, October 23, 2025 of Patrick Joseph (PJ) Donoghue, Carragh, Granard, Longford  and late of Castleblakney, Co Galway. Former Principal of Ardscoil Phádraig, Granard.

eloved husband and best friend to Mona and loving father to Ruairí, Padraig and Turlough. Son of the late Thomas & Bridie and brother of the late Joe. Deeply regretted by his brother Eamonn, daughters-in-law Jacinta and Katie, adored grandchildren; Padraic, Shauna, Conor, Grace, Laoise, Hannah, Emily and Cathal. Sadly missed by his loving family, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends. May PJ’s Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his home in Carragh, Granard, Co Longford (N39 D2C6) on Friday, October 24 from 5pm until 7pm and Saturday, October 25 from 4pm until 7pm

Eileen Duignan (née Reilly), Main Street, Ballinamore, Leitrim / Ballinamuck, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in her one hundred and first year in the wonderful care of the staff of Mountpleasant Lodge Nursing Home, Kilcock and surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 23, 2025 of Eileen Duignan (nee Reilly), Main Street, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim and formerly Ballinamuck, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Eddie, son Eamonn, sister Maura and son-in-law John. Loving Mam to John, Breege, Joseph (Joe), Kathy and Ann, grandmother to fourteen adoring grandchildren and great-grandmother to her twenty-four cherished great-grandchildren. Eileen will be forever loved by her daughters-in-law Doreen and Mary, son-in-law Seamus, Ann’s partner Syd and her nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral Home, Ballinamore, N41 TD62 on Saturday, October 25 from 4pm-6pm. As we mourn for our beloved Eileen, we celebrate her wonderful long life with colour, on Sunday, October 26 at 11am Funeral Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore, N41 XN66, to express what she shared so beautifully with us as family and community. Liam Victory, Ballinruddy, Ardagh, Co Longford

The death occurred suddenly, at his home on Monday, October 20, 2025 of Liam Victory, Ballinruddy, Ardagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his brothers P.J. and Michael. Sadly missed by his loving wife Breda, his daughter Michelle, his sons Dean and Paul, his sisters Margaret Langford, Loretto Harris, Bridie Farrelly (Hemelhempstead) and Rosaleen Sharkey (Hungerford, Berkshire), his brothers Kevin and Tom, grandchildren Dayna, Dylan, Karen, Ben, Leia, Ruby, Max and Abbie, great-grandchildren Erin and Liam, daughters-in-law Teresa and Bernardine Bracken, son-in-law Paul Linnane, sisters-in-law Sandra, Helen, Ann and Cely, brothers-in-law Tom Sharkey and Jimmy Farrelly, nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours, relatives, his work colleagues in Fallon Hardware and a wide circle of close friends. Reposing in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home Chapel (N39 XE92), Ballinalee Road, Longford on Thursday, October 23 from 4pm with prayers at 7pm. Patricia O'Brien (née McCabe), Clareview Park, Ballybane, Galway / Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by friends and family in the wonderful care of the staff at Galway University Hospital on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 of Patricia O'Brien (née McCabe), Clareview Park, Ballybane, Galway and formerly of Water Street, Longford town.

Pre-deceased by her husband Michael, brothers Ned and James, and sisters Mary and Veronica. Dearly missed by her brothers Martin and Barney, and sister Josephine, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and their partners, neighbours, relatives and friends. May her kind and gentle soul, Rest in Peace.

Requiem Mass for Patricia will be celebrated on Monday, October 27 on arrival at 11am to St Brigid’s Church, Ballybane, Galway. Following Mass a private cremation will take place in Shannon Crematorium. Thank you for your thoughtfulness at this time.

The death occurred peacefully at home with his beloved wife by his side on Monday, October 20, 2025 of Henry Ellis, Cloonellan, Drumlish, Longford. 

Pre-deceased by his parents David and Annie , brothers David , John and Joe and recently by his sister Mary. Henry will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family , his beloved wife Mary Rose, daughters Andre, Carmel, Claire, Laura and Elaine, sister Ann(Nan), brother Vincent, sons-in-law Trevor, Eamon, Thomas, Sean and Dylan, grandchildren Kian, Steven, Joshua, Cara, Emma, Owen, Seán and Rosie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 of Hugh (Hughie) Brennan, Smear, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents; John and Brigid Brennan, his sisters; Bridie, Annie, Molly and Kathleen. Hughie will be sadly missed by his brothers; Brian (London) and Pat (Cloone), his sisters; Peggy Hughes (Lisburn), Chris Boylan (London) and Philomena Lynch (Cambridgeshire), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, brothers-in-law; Francis and Billy, sisters-in-law; Chris and Breege, cousins, good neighbours, extended family and friends. May Hughie Rest in Peace.

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 23, 2025 of Patrick (Packie) Soroghan, Garrymore, Ballinagh, Cavan. 

Only recently predeceased by his beloved wife Mary. Parents Bernard and Roseanne, brother Sean, Sisters Rosaleen, Margaret and May. Packie will be very sadly missed by his son Padraic, daughter in-law Shauna, his adored grandchildren Shea, Jack and Méabh, sisters Eithne, Eileen, Philomena and Frances, brothers-in-law Patsy and Eamon, sister-in-law Breda, his good friend Kathleen, nieces, nephews, relatives friends and neighbours. Rest In Peace.

Mary Hilda O'Reilly (née Kiernan), Augharan, Aughavas, Leitrim / Drumreilly, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully in her 92nd year after a short Illness under the care of the wonderful staff at St Patrick's Hospital, Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim with her children by her side on Friday, October 24, 2025 of Mary Hilda O’Reilly (née Kiernan), Augharan, Aughavas and formerly Aughalough, Drumreilly Co Leitrim. 

Predeceased by her parents Charlie Kiernan and Ellie Mitchell, her brother Willie and her husband Cornelius O'Reilly (Drumeela). Her daughter Shirley (Joe), sons Cathal and Connie, grandsons Daniel and Liam (Kate), great granddaughter Rhona will miss her endlessly.

Hilda will be fondly remembered by family, neighbours and friends. Her vitality, lust for life and jovial nature will never be forgotten by those who knew her best.

The death occurred suddenly, but peacefully, at his residence on Monday, September 29, 2025 of Seán Gurrin, London and formerly of Pakenhamhall Road, Castlepollard, Westmeath. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Bridie Gurrin and his sisters Mary and Bernadette. Maura Wallace (née Mannix), Ballinalee, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Princess Louise of Kensington Nursing Home, London on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 of Maura Wallace (nee Mannix), London, late of Ballinalee Co Longford and Dingle Co Kerry.

Reunited with her daughter Thérèse, granddaughter Jennifer, husband John and brother Séamus. Maura passed away Maura is dearly missed by her son John, daughter in law Barbara, sisters Nora Columb and Joan Ginty, sister in law Helen Mannix, good friend Karen Clough and of course the rest of the wider family.

John Alan Harrison, Mountain View, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim

The death occurred unexpectedly, due to an undetected illness at University Hospital Sligo aged 86 years on Sunday, October 19, 2025 of John Harrison (12.12.1938), of Mountain View, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and formerly of Pensby, Wirral, England. 

Sadly missed and remembered with love and respect by his heartbroken family; his daughters Beverley and Kelly, sons-in-law Andrew and Steven, grandchildren'; Nathan, Joshua, Aidan, Todd and Carrie-Ann, his friends and neighbours. The death occurred peacefully at Newbridge Nursing Home, Mullingar on Sunday, October 12, 2025 of Eileen Josephine Fitzpatrick (née Kane), St Helen’s Road, Booterstown, Dublin & London and formerly Fyhora, Moyne, Co Longford.  

Loving wife of the late Kevin, sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in peace.
