The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the care of the nurses and staff at Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown on Monday, September 15, 2025 of Larry (L.J.) McDonnell, Mornine, Moydow, Co Longford N39 P261. 

Predeceased by his parents Jack and Molly, his brother Peter and his son P.J. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Brigid, his sons Paul, Barry and Mark and his daughter Edel, his grandsons Jack, Shane, Dara, Killian, Rian, Ronan, Elliot, Paidi and Ogie, his brother John, nieces Lorraine and Catherine, cousins Martin and Peter, son-in-law Jose, daughters-in-law Julie, Aodhnait and Lisa, sisters-in-law Mairead and Lilly, brother-in-law Packie, neighbours, relatives and friends. Rest in peace.

Reposing at his home in Mornine on Wednesday, September 17 from 4pm until 8pm. Removal on Thursday, September 18 to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carrickedmond, arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Narendra Hargovan, Booterstown, Dublin / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Our Lady's Hospice, Blackrock on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 of Narendra Hargovan, Booterstown, Co Dublin and formerly of Durban, South Africa.  

Pre-deceased by his parents. Narendra will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his beloved wife Maeve (nee Reynolds, Main Street, Newtownforbes), brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Om Sadgati.

Dr Christopher Mascott Vence, France & Blackrock, Dublin, Longford

The death  occurred suddenly, as the result of a tragic accident at his home in France on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 of Dr Christopher Mascott, Blackrock, Dublin & Vence, France. Predeceased by his parents Marshall and Katherine. Chris was deeply loved by his dearest wife Eugenie (nee Donnelly), his adoring children Patrick, Gavin and Keava. Chris will be deeply missed by the extended Mascott family (U.S.A.) and the Donnelly family (Newtownforbes), his friends, neighbours, and colleagues.

A funeral service will be held for Chris on Thursday, September 18 at 4pm, at Crématorium de la Métropole, Nice Côte d'Azur, 06670 Colomars, France. A memorial service will be held in Dublin at a later date.

George McDermott, Killashee, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 14, 2025 of George McDermott, Ballymahon Road, Killashee, Co Longford and formerly of London.  

Pre-deceased by his parents Tommy and Hannah. George will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his beloved wife Jean, sons Tom and George, daughters Sam and Charlie, sister Mary-Rose, brothers-in-law Jack and Harry, grandchildren George, Rosie, Tillie, Mossy, Max, Hannah, Ella, Eve, Olivia, Lorcan, Leo, Jude, Heidi, Danny, Isabella and Paige, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, September 17 in St Patrick’s Church, Killashee at 12 noon, interment afterwards in Killashee Cemetery. Conor Gearty, Abbeylara, Co Longford

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing on Thursday, September 11, 2025 of Professor Conor Anthony Gearty Kentish Town, London; formerly of Abbeylara, County Longford. 

A distinguished human rights lawyer and proud Longford man, Conor was a fantastic husband, an adored dad, a wonderful brother and son, and a warm generous friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his wife Aoife, his children Eliza, Owen, Èile and Fiadh, his mother Margot, his brother Frank, his sisters Rhona, Catherine, Margaret and Sarah, their partners and children, his in-laws, and his wide circle of friends, neighbours and colleagues. He is predeceased by his late wife Diane and his father Enda.

The funeral will take place in London and details will be shared here shortly. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. May he rest in power and peace.

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the Galway Clinic on Monday, September 15, 2025 of Michael McGrath, Rooskeythompson, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his loving wife Patricia, brothers John, Peter and sister Nodie. Sadly missed by his partner Beth, sisters Nell, Josephine and Brenda, brother Dick, sons Michael, Declan, Shane, Cathal and daughters Michelle and Patricia. Son-in-laws Kevin and Jimmy and daughter-in-laws Aisling, Emily, Hilary and Laura and his fourteen beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
