A new café space, historical and music museum, community learning hub and a performance and cultural space are set to be developed at Longford's Connolly Barracks following the announcement of €7m THRIVE funding.
Deputy Micheál Carrigy has welcomed the announcement that Longford County Council has secured the funding under the THRIVE Strand 2 Programme for the redevelopment of Connolly Barracks.
This significant investment will see Connolly Barracks transformed into a vibrant community and cultural hub, featuring:
Speaking on the announcement, Deputy Carrigy said, “This is fantastic news for Longford. Connolly Barracks is one of our county’s most iconic sites, and this funding will not only protect its heritage but also reimagine it as a modern hub for culture, education and community life. I am delighted to have worked with Longford County Council and all stakeholders to support this application and secure this investment for the people of Longford.”
