Deaths in Longford - Tuesday, March 12, 2024
Alexander P (Alex) Lyons, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford
The death occurred peacefully in Lisdarn Hospital, Co. Cavan following a short illness on Sunday, March 10, 2024 of Alexander P. (Alex) Lyons, Nutgrove, Rathfarnham, Dublin and Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Predeceased by his parents Michael (Tiger) and Kathleen Lyons. Youngest brother of Ken, Michael, Kathleen and Carol. Sadly missed by his dear friends Caitriona, Padraic and family and his close circle of friends.
Alex will repose at Lakelands Funeral home Cavan (H12RF78) on Tuesday, March 12 from 6pm – 7.30pm. Service for Alex will take place at Lakelands Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 13 at 1pm followed by cremation. No flowers please. Donations to CRBI (Community Rescue Boats Ireland) or any animal rescue charity.
Sharon Crowe (Donnelly), Drumlish, Co Longford

The death occurred suddenly at home on Sunday, March 10, 2024 of Sharon Crowe (Donnelly), Drumlish, Co Longford. She will be deeply missed by her heartbroken family, her beloved sons Niall, Gary, Aaron and their father Paul, her father Eddie, mother Kathleen,sister Sinead (Rogers), brothers Sean and Eamon, brother-in-law Philip, sister-in-law Patricia, Eamon's partner Laura, nephews Jim, Stephen and Jamie, nieces Laura, Kerrie and Emily, uncles, aunts and extended family and friends. May she rest in peace.

The death occurred peacefully, after a very short illness, in the care of the staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 of Gerard Rooney, Lough Ree Park, Ballyleague, Co Roscommon and formerly of Cookstown, Co Tyrone. He will be very sadly missed by his family; Damien, Paul, Mary and David, brothers Robert and Brendan, sister Anne, daughters-in-law Jaime, Karo and Bernadette, son-in-law Brían, grandchildren Eleanor, Rosabel, Lily and Edith, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Gerard is predeceased by his parents Bob and Bella, sister Molly and brother Sean. May Gerard rest in peace.
Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27) on Thursday evening, March 14 from 5pm until 7pm. Removal from his home in Lough Ree Park on Friday morning, March 15 at 11.30am arriving to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballyleague for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Cloontuskert Cemetery. Please note, the funeral Mass will be broadcast and can be viewed live on Friday, March 15 at 12 noon by clicking Smyth's Channel 1. Kathleen Corcoran (née Kelleher) Aughakiernan, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family in the loving care of the staff of Esker Lodge Nursing Home, Cavan on Saturday, March 9, 2024 of Kathleen Corcoran (nee Kelleher), Aughakiernan, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary Kate and by her infant siblings. Kathleen will be lovingly missed by her family; her devoted husband Michael, daughters Catherine, Bridie and Lena Brady, sons Philip, Peter and Owen, son-in-law Seamus, daughters-in-law Michelle and Marie, twin sister Mary Farrell, brother Patrick, brother-in-law Tom, her 11 cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
Kathleen's Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, March 12 in St Colmcille's Church, Aughnacliffe, at 12 noon followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. House strictly private, please. The death occurred peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, March 10, 2024 of Maura Donohoe (nee Carrigan), Rathcline Road, Lanesboro, Co Longford, (formerly from Keshcarrigan, Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim). Predeceased by her husband Tom, brothers Oliver & Shane and sister Evelyn, and great-grandson TJ. Maura will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her sons Martin and Thomas, stepson Pat, daughter in law Fiona, sisters Pauline, Mairead, Rennie and Carmel, grandsons Thomas, Shane and Steven, granddaughters in law Meabh, Ann and Sarah, great-grandchildren, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and her cherished friends. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Mary Kate (Minnie) Brady, sister Myra, grandson Conan and his nephew Jimmy. Tommy will be sadly missed by his loving family, wife Helen (Caslin), son Noel, daughter Rióna, daughter-in-law Caroline, grandson Oliver, granddaughter Tierna, brother Séan (Rahultan, Cavan), sisters Mona Macken (Granard) and Laura McConnell (Malahide), sister-in-law Evelyn, brothers-in-law Johnny (Macken) and Joe (McConnell), nieces, nephew, relatives, and his many close friends and neighbours. The death occurred peacefully in the tender care of the staff at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon, Co Longford on Monday, March 11, 2024 of Maí Byrne (née Fenton), Auburn Terrace, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Della, and brothers Arthur and Noel. Beloved wife of Joseph, dearly loved mother of David (Daibhí), Stephen, Robert and Emma, cherished grandmother of Jack, Aaron, Kate, Shane, Eoin, Aidan, Ruairí, Elyse, Luke, Eve, Darragh, Robyn and Finn. Maí will be forever loved and remembered by her devoted family, daughters-in-law Aida, Mary and Adrienne, son-in-law Jason, dear brother Robbie (Canada) and dear sister Freda White (Abbeyshrule), brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and her many friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband Noel, her parents, brothers & sister. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters & sons in law Sinéad (Tommy Fitzpatrick), Níamh (Alan Brady), Aisling (Christy Brady), Caríosa (Darren Fagan) & Clodagh (Derek Cheevers), her grandchildren Cian, Dylan, Saoirse, Leah, Shane, Ushnagh, Rhys, Luke, Clíodhna, Kerys, Muirne, Béibhínn, Kaidan, Callie & Síomha, extended family, neighbours & friends. Reposing at her home in Bellaney, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath, N91 K838 on Tuesday, March 12 from 4pm with prayers at 9pm. Requiem mass on Wednesday, March 13 in St Mary’s Church, Collinstown at 11am followed by burial in Collinstown cemetery. The family would like to thank all the doctors & staff in Coole Surgery especially Pat & Claire Cullen, all the staff in Barry’s Pharmacy especially Aoife who went above and beyond, paramedics, Dr Sheehy & his team, all the staff in the emergency department, Medical 1&2 in Mullingar Regional Hospital, Palliative Care, Castlepollard Fire Service, all her carers, friends & family. The death occurred peacefully in the care of all the staff at Sonas Nursing Home, Cloverhill on Saturday, March 9, 2024 of Helen (Ellen) Tanner, Upper Elphin Street, Strokestown, Roscommon/ Sligo town. Helen will be sadly missed by her sorrowing sisters, Sr Edel (Rita) M.M.M., Mary (Sexton) & Carmel, her brothers George & John, nieces Mary & Rita, nephews Kevin, John & Sean, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred suddenly, at her residence in Burnham on Crouch, Essex on Sunday, January 28, 2024 of Berna Casey, Burnham on Crouch, Essex and late of Kenagh, Co Longford. Predeceased by her beloved partner, Pat, her loving parents Frank and Lil, her sister Teresa and infant brother Edward.
