The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 of Mary Lyons (nee Tiernan) (Publican), Main Street, Longford and formerly of Bridge Street, Longford. 
Pre-deceased by her parents Pat and Christina and by her husband John. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughter Anne-Marie, sons Joe, Brian and John, daughters-in-law Maria and Andrea, son-in-law Raymond, sisters Deirdre (Tazmania), Jean (U.K.) and Yvonne (Sligo), brothers Micheál (Florida) and John (Mayo), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, January 7 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of The Resurrection on Monday, January 8 at 11am in St. Mel’s Cathedral, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully at his home on Friday, January 5, 2024 of Philip (Phil) McGauren, Cornadrung, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford.  May he rest in Peace.

The death occurred peacefully in the loving and tender care of the staff at Cluain Lir Care Centre, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 4, 2024 of Elizabeth (Bessie) Lee (nee McGovern) Barrack Street, Granard, Co Longford.
Predeceased by her husband James, baby infant Michael, parents Hugh and Kate Mc Govern, brothers Peter, Paddy and Hugh, and her sister Mary Kelliher. Bessie will be sorely missed by her sons, Seamus (Kathleen), John (Roisin), and daughter Mary, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends. May She Rest In Peace.
Reposing in Smith's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Granard (N39AX97), on Saturday, January 6 from 4pm to 6pm, followed by removal to St Mary's Church Granard, arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Sunday, January 7 at 1pm followed by Christian burial in St. Colmcille’s Cemetery, Aughnacliffe. Brian Baskett, Ash Lawns, Clonbalt Woods, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family after a short illness under the tender care of the staff in ICU, Mullingar Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 of Brian Baskett, Ash Lawns, Clonbalt Woods, Longford town and formerly of Padfield Place, Pakuranga, Auckland, New Zealand. 
Predeceased by his son David and his sister Phyllis, Brian will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, loving wife and best friend Ann, son Glenn, daughter-in law Fiona, adored grandchildren, Niamh, Caoimhe and Kevin, brother Bill, sisters Judith, Jennifer and Denise, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends in Ireland and his homeland New Zealand.
A private family cremation will take place on Saturday,  January 6 at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Philomena Forde (née Geery), Cloonaugh, Drumlish, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital in the care of her family, on Thursday, January 4, 2024 of Philomena Forde (née Geery), Cloonaugh, Drumlish, Longford. Predeceased by her parents Alice and Daniel, daughter Carol, brothers and sisters. Deeply regretted by her husband Willie, daughter Ann, sons-in-law Robert and David, granddaughter Molly, brother John, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Our Lady's Manor Church Edgeworthstown this Friday, January 5, 2024 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7:30pm. Removal on Saturday morning, January 6 from her residence in Drumlish for 11am Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Drumlish. Funeral Mass can be streamed live by clicking on this link. Seán Donnelly, 'Ahalan', Cloncoose , Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully at home surrounded by his adoring family, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 of Seán Donnelly, 'Ahalan', Cloncoose , Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by his parents James and Anne, sister Angela and by his infant son Seán. Seán will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his beloved wife Ann, darling daughters Orfhlaith, Aideen, Dervilla and Patricia, cherished grandchildren Anna Lily, Conor and Ella, sons-in-law Ciarán O’Neill and Declan Fox, sister Phyllis Meally, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law , nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Eileen Keenan (née McDonald), Tarmonbarry Village, Tarmonbarry, Roscommon, N39 W968 / Tarmonbarry, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of the Staff in Autumn Lodge, St Joseph's Care Centre, Longford surrounded by her loving family after a long and full life, age 97 years, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 of Eileen Keenan (née McDonald), Tarmonbarry Village, Tarmonbarry, Roscommon, N39 W968 / Tarmonbarry, Longford. 
Predeceased by her husband Joe. Eileen will be sorely missed by her sons, Nicholas and Barry, daughter Sister Nora, daughters in law Annette and Evelyn, grandchildren Shane, David, Peter, Joey, Conor, Breen, Niall and John, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at her Home, Keenan's of Tarmonbarry on Thursday, January 4 from 5pm to 8pm. Removal from her home on Friday morning, January 5 arriving at the Sacred Heart Church, Whitehall for 12 noon. The death occurred peacefully after a short illness on Monday, January 1, 2024 of Philomena (Phil) Chalmers (nee Fallon), Barnacor, Lanesboro, Co Longford.  Beloved wife of the late John Chalmers; deeply regretted by her loving children Tracie, John, Jacqueline, Robert and Yvonne; sons in law, daughters in law, cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and many friends. The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of the staff at TLC, Maynooth on Monday, January 1, 2024 of Evelyn Ryan (née Croghan), Lucan, Co Dublin and formerly of Clondra, Co Longford. Beloved wife of Patrick (Pat) and much loved mother of Ger, Orla and Lisa. Sadly missed by her loving husband, daughters, grandchildren Eoin, Dara, Neeve and Ewan, son-in-law Alan, Lisa’s partner Dru, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

The death occurred, tragically following a road traffic accident, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 of Gary Murphy, Garrymore, Ballinagh, formerly of St Martin's Estate, Cavan. Gary will deeply missed by his beloved children, Sorcha, Oisin, Meadhbh, Donnacha and their mother Lisa. His cherished parents Denis and Kitty, sisters Jenny, Noeleen and Siobhan, brothers Declan and Sean, brothers in law, sisters in law, all his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many friends.

The death occurred unexpectedly at home on Friday, December 29, 2023 of Patrick (Padraig) McNally, Skerries, Co. Dublin (originally Dromod, Co Leitrim) and Dublin City University. Son of the late Jack McNally. Sadly missed by his loving wife Catherine (Ware), sons Niall and Conor, mother Milly, sisters Maura and Anne (Garbett), brother John, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, relatives, extended family, colleagues and a large circle of friends. Catherine McLoughlin, Columbia, Maryland, USA and formerly of Corraslira, Strokestown, Roscommon


The death occurred, peacefully at the residence of her daughter Caitriona, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 28, 2023 of Catherine McLoughlin, Columbia, Maryland, USA and formerly of Corraslira, Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by her parents, Joe and Kate McLoughlin. She is deeply regretted by her children, Siobhan Engels, Brendan Hayes and Caitríona Hayes, their father John, her dear grandchildren Fiona, Maya, Adrian, Méabh and Ruadhán, her siblings Maura McLoughlin-Lundon and Joe McLoughlin, brother-in-law Denis Lundon, her nieces Denise, Michelle, Catherine and her nephew Dara.
She is sadly missed and will be lovingly remembered by her family, relations and her many great friends in Ireland and in the USA. She was widely known for her involvement with many societies celebrating Irish culture, music, poetry and literature, her immense success in varied fields from her graduate studies and through her work as a respected and trusted realtor, but foremost for her kindness and compassion to her fellow man.
Catherine will repose at Harry H. Witzke’s Funeral Home, in Ellicott City, Maryland on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 2-4pm ET, and 7-9pm ET. Funeral mass to celebrate Catherine’s life will be held on Friday, January 5 at 10am ET at St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Wilde Lake, Columbia, MD. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.

Maxwell Bennett (Ledwith), Ballinafid, Multyfarnham, Westmeath


The death occurred on Sunday, December 3, 2023 of Maxwell Bennett (Ledwith), Wood End, Coventry, UK and formerly of Ballinafid, Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath. Sadly missed by his family, Anthony, Ashley, Andrea, Alison and Aidan, their mother Alison, his sister Zita and brother Adrian, nephews, nieces, relatives and wide circle of friends. May he rest in peace.
Max will be received into St Patrick's RC Church, Deedmore Rd, Coventry on Thursday, January 11 at 5pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Friday, January 12 at 10.30am followed by Cremation at Canley Crematorium in the Cannon Chapel. The death occurred peacefully, after a short illness, at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 of Joe Clarke, Ballinamee, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath and formerly Ballyfermot, Dublin, (Retired Bus Eireann Driver).  Sadly missed by his loving wife Oonagh, his son David, daughter-in-law Bernadette, grandson Aaron, brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
