Very Rev Fr Peter Brady, Legan, Co Longford


The death occurred on Thursday, November 30, 2023 of Very Rev Fr Peter Brady, Legan and formerly of Derryharrow, Longford, former President of St Mel’s College.  Predeceased by his parents Peter and Kate, brother Philip and by his sister Margaret McLoughlin. Fr Peter will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, brothers Packie, Eamon and Tommie, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, by the Bishop, Priests and Religious of the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, relatives and friends. Requiescat in pace.
Fr Peter will repose at St Mary’s Church, Legan, on Saturday, December 2 from 2pm concluding with prayers at 6pm. Requiem Mass on Sunday, December 3 at 2pm, interment afterwards in Legan Cemetery.

Gerard Chapman, Drumcondra, Dublin / Kenagh, Co Longford


The death occurred peacefully in Beaumont Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 of Gerard (Gerry) Chapman, Drumcondra and formerly of Kenagh, County Longford.
Loving husband of Patricia, and beloved Da of Brendan, Pauline and Kevin. Sadly missed by his loving family, daughter-in-law Valerie, grandchildren Robert, Steven, Katie, Emily and Holly, great-granddaughter Ivy, sister Evelyn and brothers Michael and Vincent, nieces and nephews, extended family, wide circle of friends and neighbours. Reposing in Lanigan's Funeral Home, 21 Beaumont Rd., Beaumont, Dublin 9, on Saturday, December 2 from 2pm to 4pm. Removal on Monday morning, December 4 to St Vincent De Paul Catholic, Griffith Avenue, Marino, for Funeral Mass at 10am, followed by burial in Balgriffin Cemetery Extension. Clare Ross-Tobin (née Ross), Legan, Longford


The death occurred peacefully at her home in Chicago, Illinois, USA, after a short illness on Friday, November 17, 2023 of Clare Ross-Tobin (née Ross), Legan, Longford. Much loved and sadly missed by her sons Killian, Malachy and Naoise, their father Brian, her sisters Brigid (Connaughton), Frances and Ann Ross.

Frank Greally, Forgney, Ballymahon, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the Regional Hospital Mullingar on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 of Frank Greally, Forgney, Ballymahon, Co Longford. Predeceased by his wife Mary and daughter Mary. Deeply regretted by his grandson Sean, his son Francis and his daughter-in-law Susan. His sisters Maureen (Gogarty), Annie (Kelly) and Tess (Keegan), his brother Michael, sister-in-law Nuala, brother-in-law Simon and his many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours, Rest in Peace.
Reposing in Our Lady of Lourdes nursing home Edgeworthstown this Thursday evening, November 30 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, December 1 at 12 noon in The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Forgney followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Catherine O'Donnell (née Mallon) Killybegs, Donegal / Ballinalee, Co Longford


The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of the staff at Áras Uí Dhomhnaill Nursing Home, Milford, surrounded by her loving family, in her 104th year on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 of Catherine (Kathleen) O’Donnell, Main St Killybegs and formerly of Ballinalee, Co Longford. Predeceased by her husband Hugh. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Deirdra (Friel), son Hugh, sons in law Fergus & Joe, grandsons Cormac, Dermot, Lorcan, Fergus & their wives, her six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives & friends. RIP.
Remains reposing at her late residence at Hughie’s Bar, Main Street, Killybegs, from 7pm - 10pm on Wednesday, November 29 and from 1pm - 10pm on Thursday, November 30. Removal on Friday morning, December 1, at 10.30am to St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs, for 11am Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in the local cemetery. Bríd Kiely (née Connell) Clontumpher, Ballinalee, Co Longford


The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 27, 2023 of Bríd Kiely (nee Connell), Clontumpher, Ballinalee, Co Longford. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Mary, brothers Micky and John and by her beloved husband Maurice. Bríd will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughters Charlene and Marese, son Tom, daughter-in-law Caroline, son-in-law Stephen McEvoy, brothers Paul, Tom and Davy, grandchildren Michaela, Jimmy, Nicole, Tommy, Maurice and Peter, her partner Owen, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The death occurred peacefully in the tender loving care of the nurses and staff at Abbey Haven Nursing Home, Boyle, surrounded by her devoted family on Thursday, November 30, 2023 of Doris Graham (née Irwin), Leitrim Village, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by her parents William and Charlotte, her husband George. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by loving family, sons Trevor (Leitrim Village) and Alan (Corrigeenroe), daughter Miranda Higgins (Mullaghbrack, Mohill), daughters-in-law Teresa and Iosha, son-in-law Padraig, grandchildren Tarah, Jack, Cathal, Philip, Niamh, Rhona, Lily, Emma, Lauren, Ellie and Conor, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family and in the tender care of the staff of University Hospital Sligo on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 of Maura McDermottroe (née Ward), Killamey, Geevagh, Co Sligo, formerly Aghacashel, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by her beloved husband Tommy, daughter Geraldine, her parents Catherine and Michael, brother Peter. Maura will be deeply missed by her loving daughters Kathleen (Dublin), Marian (Tarmonbarry) and Teresa (Carrick-on Shannon) son Noel (Coolaney) daughter-in-law, Carmen, sons-in-law Austin, Des and Padraig, her seventeen grandchildren Niamh, Niall, Ronan, Eimear, Aoife, Colm, Clíona, Clodagh, Orla, Conor, Laura, Colin, Bláithín, Chloe, Jessica, Megan and Jonathan, sister Kathleen Mc Cahill (Roundstone, Co. Removal from her home, on Saturday morning, December 2  to St. Joseph’s Church, Geevagh, arriving for celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment immediately afterwards in Kilmactranny Cemetery. The death occurred in Manchester on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 of Josephine (Jo) Doherty formerly of Cloone Village, Cloone, Co Leitrim and Manchester, England. Predeceased by her parents; Patrick and Bridget, her brothers; Patsy and Martin, her sisters; Kathleen and Teresa. Jo will be missed by her sisters; Maureen (Sligo) and Peggy (Manchester) her brother; Mick (Sligo), her relatives, neighbours and friends in Ireland and Manchester. Larry Masterson, Drumroe, Cornafean, Arva, Co Cavan


The death occurred peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff of Esker Lodge Nursing Home, Cavan on Sunday, November 26, 2023 of Larry Masterson, Drumroe, Cornafean, Co Cavan. Sadly missed by his loving nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and many friends.
Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, on Thursday evening, November 30 from 6pm until 7pm. Removal on Friday morning, December 1 at 10.30am to the Church of Immaculate Conception, Coronea, to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11am, interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Joseph Lloyd, late of Hall Green, Birmingham, formerly of Forgney, Ballymahon, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by his family, aged 85, on Saturday, November 11, 2023 of Joseph Lloyd, late of Hall Green, Birmingham, formerly of Forgney, Ballymahon, Longford. Predeceased by his wife Bridget, sisters Rosie, Bridie and Maureen, and brothers Tom, Sean and Pat. Much loved by sons Joseph and John, daughter-in-law Sue, sisters Dympna (London), Sarah (Moate), and Kathleen (USA), brothers Bill (Birmingham), Matt (Dublin), Mike (Forgney), and Christy (Surrey). He will be deeply missed by all family and friends.
Reception into Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Yardley Wood, Thursday, December 14 at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, December 15 at 11.00am, followed by burial at Robin Hood Cemetery. Flowers welcome, or donations, if desired, to the Birmingham Irish Association, via collection at the church.
