The death occurred, peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family, on Monday, February 6, 2023 of Peggy (Margaret) Corcoran (nee Briody), Rathcronan, Granard, Co Longford and formerly of Ferriskill, Granard. Predeceased by her beloved husband John, daughter Bernadette and son Larry. Peggy will be sadly missed and deeply regretted by her heartbroken family, Rena (Keogh), Martin, John, Mairead (McEvoy), Liz (Reynolds) Carmel (McBrien) and Tony, her adored 24 grandchildren, sons-in-law Peter, Patrick and Michael, daughters-in-law Diane, Caroline, Breda and Jacinta, sister Kathleen, brother Paddy (USA), brother-in-law Michael, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends and neighbours. May She Rest In Peace.
Peggy will repose at her home (N39T6K8) on Wednesday February 8 from 4pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday February 9 in St Mary’s Church, Granard at 12 noon followed by Christian burial in the Granardkill Cemetery. House strictly private on Thursday morning, February 9 please. Mary Brigid Lane (née McCarthy), Dublin Road, Mullingar, Co Westmeath / Moatefarrell, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully in the tender care of Matron and staff at St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan, on Sunday, February 5, 2023 of Mary Brigid Lane (née McCarthy), ‘Oakmount’, Dublin Road, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and late of Drumnacross, Moatefarrell, Co Longford. Dearly loved wife of the late Michael (Miko) and devoted mother of Michael. Predeceased by her brothers Michael and John (Jack). Mary will be remembered with great love by her son and daughter-in-law Mary, her cherished grandchildren Oisín and Aisling, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends, especially her greyhound racing friends. May Mary rest in peace.
Reposing in St Camillus Nursing Centre Chapel, Killucan (N91 VF51) on Wednesday, February 8 from 4.30pm followed by prayers at 6pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday, February 9 at 10.30am and the Mass may be viewed on the live webcam at www.churchservices.tv/killucan. Burial will take place in Delvin Cemetery. Peter Farrell, Curracreehan, Moydow, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully at home after a short illness, on Monday, February 6, 2023 of Peter Farrell, Curracreehan, Moydow, Longford. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary, brothers Johnny and Tommy and his sister Mary. Peter will be forever remembered by his loving wife Elizabeth, his children, Peter, Declan, Eugene, Mary, Aidan, Deirdre (Davis), Grainne (O’Boyle), Edel (Farrell), Jude (Farrell), his sister Nan, his brother Jimmy, sister-in-law Peg, daughters in law Ann and Emma, sons in law John, Eoin, PJ and Gerry, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) Longford on Tuesday, February 7 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 8 in the church of The Sacred Heart, Carrickedmond followed by burial afterwards in Carrickedmond cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired in lieu of flowers to Highfield House c/o Skellys Funeral Directors or any family member.

Pat Mulligan, Aughaga, Moyne, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, age 98, in the loving and attentive care of the staff at Lisdarn, Cavan, on Monday, February 6, 2023 of Pat Mulligan, Aughaga, Moyne, Longford. Deeply regretted by his brothers Michael and Denis (Dinny), San Francisco, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at his home on Tuesday, February 7 between 2pm and 7pm.
For traffic management purposes, parking will be at St Francis Xavier Church, Moyne (Eircode N39 P462)/Moyne Cross Stores and shuttle buses will run between there and Pat's home. Please follow the instructions of the stewards at the wake. Funeral mass at 11am on Wednesday, February 8 in St Francis Xavier Church, Moyne, Co Longford, followed by burial in adjacent graveyard. No flowers please.

Annie (Ina) Flaherty (née McCrann), Lucan, Dublin / Killashee, Co Longford
The death occurred, peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the tender care of the staff at Millbrook Manor Nursing Home, Saggart, on Saturday, January 28, 2023 of  Annie (Ina) Flaherty (née McCrann),  Killashee, Co. Longford and formerly of Redesdale Court, Mount Merrion and Flaherty’s Newsagents & Hardware, Lucan, Co. Dublin. Beloved wife of the late Edmund and cherished mother of Nuala, Desmond, Ursula, Ger, Mel, Freddie, Margaret and Joan. Sadly missed by her loving sons, daughters, sister Alice, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and friend and carer Jackie. May she rest in peace.
In accordance with Annie’s wishes, a private funeral took place on Thursday, February 2, 2023. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all the staff at Millbrook Manor Nursing Home, Saggart for the friendly, dedicated and loving care given to Annie.

Patrick (Paddy) Gilchriest, Walkinstown, Dublin / Edgeworthstown, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the kind care of the staff of Beaumont and Mater Hospitals, on Friday, February 3, 2023 of Patrick (Paddy) Gilchriest, late of Walkinstown and formerly of Edgeworthstown, County Longford. Predeceased by his twin sister Bridie, brothers Mick, John-Joe and Frank, sister Maureen and brother-in-law Tony Beloved husband and best friend to Maura and devoted dad to Deirdre, Catriona, Enda and Síne and a much loved grandad of Jordan, Cathal, Eimear, Cian, Éadaoin, Róisín, Ciarán, Mairéad, Angus, Charles and Dymphna. Paddy will be forever loved and very sadly missed by his loving wife, children, sisters Lil and Teresa, brother Joe, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law Kevin and Peter, daughter-in-law Aoife, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. The death occurred, peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 5, 2023 of Maura Reilly, Bohey Rock, Drumlish, Longford and formerly of Caterham, Surrey, England. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Ann. Maura will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters Monica Thrapp (Longford), Betty Creton (Caterham) and Bernadette Rice (Dublin), her devoted nieces and nephews, Dawn, Tracey, Karen, Kate, Caitriona, Davey and Michéal, extended families, her brothers-in-law Willie Thrapp, Dave Creton, Charles Rice, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many good friends in Bohey Rock and Caterham. The death occurred, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 of Johnbull Omoragbon, Longford Town, Longford and formerly of Spain. Pre-deceased by his parents. John will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family wife Edith, daughters Victory and Success, sons Blessed and Anointed, brothers and sisters Jackson, Monday, Rosemary, Philomina, Patricial and and Esohe, relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, which occurred peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Kettering General Hospital, of Michael Dowler, 1944-2023. Michael had so many memories of growing up in Abbeyshrule and the surrounding areas in Longford with his parents Michael and Kathleen Dowler and sister Nancy and cousin James Dowler. A loving Daddy to Nicola, Aileen, Kristine and Katie, grandad and friend to many. Funeral takes place in Saint Edwards Church, Kettering at 2pm on Friday, February 17, 2023.

The death occurred, peacefully after a short illness in the loving care of his family and staff at the University Hospital, Galway, on Saturday, February 4, 2023 of Patrick (Pat) Farrell, Hill street, Mohill, Leitrim, N41 T622 and formerly of Dunbeggan, Co Longford (aged 78). Pat, beloved husband of Maura and dear father to Maria, Thérèse and John. Sadly missed by his brother and sister, Emmanuel and Miriam, sons-in-law, Marc and John and daughter-in-law, Sarah and his adoring grandchildren, Isla and Evan; Maya and Ava; Oisín, Darragh and Cáit, his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, wonderful friends and neighbours. Predeceased by her brother Jack and sisters Angela and Marcie. Beloved wife of Larry and much-loved mother of Brenda, Suzanne, Donna and Orla; will be very sadly missed by her husband and children, sons-in-law Dan, Ian, Andrew and Graham, her adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.
