The death occurred on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 of Gladys Donnelly (née Fontain), ‘Glad Cottage’, Cloonahard, Longford and formerly of Liverpool, at the Midland Regional hospital, Mullingar. Predeceased by her son Jimmy, Grandson Wayne, Granddaughter Stacey and brothers Gordon and Bill. Deeply regretted by her loving and devoted husband Jimmy, family, Alan, Gladys, Colin, Julie, Janet and David, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and partners, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, sisters Josie and Joan, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. Reposing at Kelly’s Funeral Home, Athlone Road, Longford, N39 K381, this Thursday evening, January 26 from 4pm until 6pm. Removal on Friday morning, January 27 from Kelly’s Funeral Home to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, for Cremation service at 12 noon. James Hughes, Dublin / New York / Killoe, Co Longford
The death occurred, peacefully in the excellent care of the staff at St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin, on Monday, January 23, 2023 of James Hughes, Dublin / New York / Killoe, Co Longford. He is predeceased by his parents James P and Catherine, sister Dolores and brother Jackie. James will be sadly missed by his loving family, brother Donald (Wolverhampton), sister Evelyn (Waterford) and brother Walter (Bundoon), brother-in-law Paddy and sisters-in-law Kitty and Margaret, nieces Lorraine, Carol, Theresa, Caroline, Caitríona, Caroline and Teresa, nephews Declan, Damien, Pascal, John, Donald and Dara, all his grand-nieces and grand-nephews, relatives and neighbours. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace.
Removal to arrive at St Mary's Church, Ennybegs, on Wednesday, January 25 for prayers at 7pm. Funeral mass on Thursday, January 26 at 11am, followed with burial in Aughaboy Cemetery. The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 23, 2023 of Kathleen McWeeney (née Casey), 5 Saint Mary's Terrace, Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Co Longford, N39 EW88. Predeceased by her beloved husband Tom, sister Sheila and niece Linda. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her daughters Anne (Belfast), and Marie (Lecarrow), sons Aidan (Curraghroe) and Geard (Drogheda), sons-in-law Anto and Gerry, daughters-in-law Eileen and Lisa, grandchildren Linda, Sharon, Sarah, Lorraine, Niall, Megan and Ava, great grandchildren Alannah, Isobella and Alexis, sister Rita McCauley (London), brother-in-law Noel, sister-in-law Eithne Murtagh (Cloondara), nieces and nephews, extended family, kind neighbours and friends. Reposing at her residence on Wednesday, January 25 from 5pm until 8pm. Removal from her home on Thursday, January 26 arriving at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Co Roscommon, N39 H524, for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon with burial thereafter in Cloontuskert Cemetery. The death occurred, suddenly, on Sunday, January 22, 2023 of Sean Kenny, Sonnagh, Charlestown, Co Mayo and Lanesborough, Co Longford. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Bea, brother Marty. Sadly missed by his loving family, partner Bernie, brother Pat, sister-in-law Bernie, nephew Jack Luke, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.
Sean will repose in the Horkan funeral home Charlestown (F12D393) on Wednesday evening, January 25 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Removal on Thursday morning, January 26 to St James's church Charlestown for funeral mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. The death occurred, peacefully, in Guildford, on Saturday, January 7, 2023 of Ethnea Wye (née Comerford), Guildford, Surrey and formerly Park Rd, Longford. Beloved wife of Andrew and loving mother of Laura, Eva and Alexandra. Sadly missed by her loving family, relatives and friends. R.I.P.
A celebration of Ethnea’s life will be held at Clandon Wood Nature Reserve and Natural Burial Ground West Clandon, Guildford GU4 7FN, at 1pm on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Rónán O'Reilly, Smear Hill, Aughnacliffe, Longford / Dublin


The death occurred, suddenly, at his home, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 of Rónán O'Reilly, Smear Hill, Aughnacliffe, Longford and formerly of Kincora Drive, Clontarf, Dublin. Beloved son of the late Harry O'Reilly. Rónán will be sadly missed and remembered by his mother Angela, his son Harry, his three sisters Niamh, Clíona and Deirdre, his brothers-in-law Gerry and Aidan, his nephews and nieces, Oran, Tiarnán, Fiach, Ciara and Seána, his grandnephews Culann and Ruadhán, his aunts, cousins and friends. Special thanks to his wonderful neighbours and friends who looked out for him in Aughnacliffe and Arva. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts. May He Rest in Peace.

The death occurred,  peacefully, after a short illness, at Our Lady’s Community Hospital, Manorhamilton, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 of John James (Johnny) O'Brien, Finisklin, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by his father Michael and mother Kathleen. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his family, brothers Tom and Micheál, sisters-in-law Mary and Marie, nephews Alan, Fergal & Colm, nieces-in-law Aishling & Carina, uncle Tom Regan and his wife, Margaret (Effrinagh), aunts Julia Creamer (Drumshanbo), and Chris and Jim Lynch (England), aunts-in-law Mary Ellen Regan (Drumsna) and Mary Teresa Regan (Leitrim Village), grandniece Gráinne, grandnephews Miguel and Donnacha, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Fr Vincent Brady, Rocklin, California, Arva, Co Cavan


The death occurred, suddenly, but peacefully at his home in Rocklin, California, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 of Fr Vincent Brady, Retired Pastor, Rocklin, California, native of Gurteen, Arva, County Cavan.
Deeply regretted by his Bishop, brother priests, former parishioners, and many good friends. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Kate, his brother Paddy and his wife Lily, his sister Beesie McCarthy and her husband Mick, his brother Philip and his wife Marie, his brothers Fr Charlie, Thomas, and Gerard, his brother in law John Conefrey, nephews Gerard Brady and Aiden Conefrey. Fr Vincent will be sadly missed by his sister Kathleen Conefrey (Cammagh, Moyne) brothers, James and his wife Madeline (Portarlington), John Joe and his wife Margaret (Gurteen), Donal and his wife Mary (Longford), sisters in law Angela and Maureen, his much loved nieces and nephews and his grand nieces and nephews. Fr Vincent’s Funeral will take place in California. A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will take place at a later date. May he rest in peace.

Frances Lane (née Gray), Lanesboro Street, Roscommon Town, Roscommon


The death occurred, peacefully at Mullingar Regional Hospital and previously in the devoted care of the staff at Innis Ree Lodge, Ballyleague, on Monday, January 23, 2023 of Frances Lane (née Gray), Lanesboro Street, Roscommon Town. Beloved wife of the late Frank and much loved mother to Anne, Mark and Gerard. She will be very sadly missed by her family, sister Susan, brother Patsy, grandchildren Ethan, Amy, Oscar, Alexa, Frankie and Alfie, son-in-law Arjun, daughters-in-law Karen and Tracy, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May Frances rest in peace.
Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon on Wednesday evening, January 25 from 4.30pm until 6pm followed by removal to the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, January 26 at 11am. Burial afterwards in Athleague Cemetery. The death occurred, suddenly in Australia, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 of Marie Sheridan, Cornee, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.  Predeceased by her father John and brother Micheal, deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken mother Maura, Brothers John and Patrick, sister-in-law Patricia and nephew Evan, Aunts, uncles,cousins extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her family and devoted friends, after an illness stoically borne, on Sunday, January 22 of Valerie Pakenham (née McNair Scott), at her beloved home Tullynally, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath.
Dearly loved wife of Thomas, wonderful mother to Maria, Eliza, Ned and Fred, cherished mother-in-law to Bogislav, Alex, Sarah, Claire, and inspiring grandmother to Aidan, Ciarán, Samuel, Anselm, Matilda, Gabriel, Julia, Tom, Lyra, Sasha and Ferdy. She will be much missed by her adored brother Nigel, and her large extended family and many friends.

The death occurred, peacefully in the care of all the staff at Sligo University Hospital, in her 90th year, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 22, 2023 of  Mary (Maisie) Bosquette (nee Murray), Castlenode, Strokestown, Roscommon.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John, son Kieran and sister Margaret. Much loved mother of Mary, Helen, Joe, Gerry, Terry, Dominic, Anthony, Carmel, Barbara, Joan, Kenny and David. Maisie will be sadly missed by her sons, daughters, sons-in-law Dominic, Sherry, Frank, Dan and Tim, daughter-in-law Aislin, her adored grandchildren Keith, Laura, Sharon, Daniel, Joshua, Noah, Holly and Seanie, great-grandchildren Harper and Ayla, sisters Betty and Ronnie, brother John, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred, peacefully, in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 of Michael Patrick Greene, of Birmingham, and formerly of Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Anthony, Tommy, Johnny and sister Mary and wives Kitty and Maureen. Michael deeply regretted and remembered by his sisters Peggy and Nancy and brother-in-law Tom Fisher, and John Orahoe, daughter Pamela, son-in-law Lou sons Kieran and Adrian, daughter-in-laws, Helen and Caroline, grandchildren, Nicholas, Eleanor, Alexis, Talia, Francesca, Marijka, Lorna, Cairstine and Patric. Great grandchildren, Harry, Rory, Conor and Douglas. Also by his many nephews and nieces.
Requiem Mass on Friday, January 27 at 11:30 am at St Joseph's and Helen's Kings Norton, Birmingham, followed by cremation at Lodge Hill Crematorium, Selly Oak, Birmingham. May he rest in peace.
