The death occurred, peacefully, at home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 15, 2023 of James McGovern of Griffith Avenue, Drumcondra, Dublin 9, formerly Aughavas, Co Leitrim, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, and the Goblet Bar, Artane. Very sadly missed by his beloved wife Peggy, children Aidan, Vera, Nuala, Andy and Eileen, daughters-in-law Christina and Louise, sons-in-law Willie, Tristan and Ciarán, grandchildren Sean, Nikita, Karla, Henry, Leo, Bill, Pete, Jodi, Séamus, Tómas, Euan, Grace, Pierce and Charlie, brothers Tom, Gerry and Tony, in-laws, extended family, friends and neighbours. May he Rest in Peace.
Reposing at his home on Tuesday, January 17 from 3pm to 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning, January 18 to St Vincent de Paul Church, Marino, arriving for 11.30am mass. Burial afterwards in Dardistown Cemetery. For those who can’t attend the service it can be viewed live by visiting Marino Parish Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland at PAI Donations

The death occurred, peacefully and in the loving and excellent care of the staff of Hazelwood Unit, Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford, on Saturday, January 14, 2023 of Rose Margaret Keane (née Carthy), Templemichael Glebe, Longford and formerly Drumbad, Ballinamuck, Longford. Predeceased by her loving husband Pauric, parents Patrick and Kate Carthy (née O’Neill), much loved sister Mary and brothers John and Pat. Deeply regretted by her loving nieces Marian, Catherine and Rita, nephew Patsy, niece-in-law Ann, nephew-in-law Mark, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, relatives and her good friends and neighbours. Rest In Peace.
Reposing at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home Chapel, Longford (N39 XE92) on Tuesday, January 17 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass at 11am on Wednesday, January 18 in Saint Mel’s Cathedral, Longford, with burial afterwards in Ballinamuck New Cemetery. Predeceased, recently by her loving husband Tony (October 15, 2022), her parents Tommy and Christina and brother Mel. Deeply regretted by her loving sons Tommy, Brendan and Tony and daughter Collette, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and her many good friends and neighbours. Removal arriving in Saint Mel’s Cathedral, Longford on Monday evening, January 16 at 6:30pm via Bannon Terrace. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 17 at 1pm. The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the exceptional care of the nurses and staff of St.Joseph’s Care Centre, on Saturday, January 14, 2023 of Michael (Mickey) Barden, Lismore, Newtownforbes, Longford. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Mary-Jane, sisters Maureen, Kitty and Peggy, brothers Brendan, Tommy, Séan and Seamus and by his beloved daughter Carmel. Mickey will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Agnes, daughters Josie, Colette, Teresa, Martha, Caroline and Úna, sons John and Tommy, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The death occurred, peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter Annie and son-in-law Paddy’s residence in Killala, Co. Mayo, on Friday, January 13, 2023 of Patricia (Patsy) Neary (née Farrell), Templemichael Terrace, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her husband John Joe, her beloved son Noel, granddaughter Lynda, sisters and brothers. Patsy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughters Annie O’Hora (Killala) and Bernie McEvoy, sons Michael, John, Bobby (England) and David (Ballina), daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, her 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The death occurred, peacefully with his heartbroken family by his side, in the great care of UHG, on Thursday, January 12, 2023 of Tom Kelly, Lakeshore Drive, Renmore, Galway and formerly of Longford. Tom will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Colette, children Rachel, Aaron and Ronan, son-in-law Jonathan, daughters-in-law Hannah and Fiona, and his adored grandchildren Jessica and Brendan; Esmé and Juno; Jackson, Grace and Chloé. The death occurred, suddenly, on Thursday, January 12, 2023 of Gary Dolan, Bawn, Drumlish, Co Longford. He is predeceased by his father Michael. Gary will always be loved and sadly missed, by his mother Liz, his children Jamie Lee and Breeanna and their mother Carrie, sisters Antoinette and Veronica and their partners David and JP, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The death occurred, peacefully at home in the loving care of his family after a long illness bravely borne, on Sunday, January 15, 2023 of Sean Smith, Gowlagh South, Bawnboy, Cavan. Predeceased by his parents John F and Jane, his sister Sr Kathleen and his brother Stephen. Dearly beloved husband of Anne (née Byrne-Kingscourt), much loved father to Eimear (Shane McManus), Áine (Cian O’Brien), Conor (Leanne Connell) and Kilian (Jordan Lambe), and adored grandfather to Enda, Dearbhla, Senan, Ríain and Méabh. Sadly missed by his sister Carmel Fitzgerald (London), brothers Hughie (Ann-Oxford), Noel, Fr Tommy, Ben and Brendan (Anne), his brothers-in-law Pat and Seamus, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, a wide circle of friends and his Council and Cavan/Monaghan ETB colleagues. Betty Ann Gumley, Corstruce, Ballinagh, Co Cavan


The death occurred, peacefully, in the loving care of her family and the staff of Surgical One, Cavan General Hospital, on Sunday, January 15, 2023 of Betty Ann Gumley, Corstruce, Ballinagh, Co Cavan. Beloved wife and best friend of Barney and devoted mother of Ann (Michael) and Michelle (Noel) adored grandmother of Catriona, Sarah, Leah, Aaron, Orlaith, and Aoife. Betty will be very sadly missed by her loving family, her brother Jimmy, nieces, nephews, brothers in law Michael and Tom, sisters in law Maura and Shirley, all her family circle and many friends. Predeceased by his wife; Mary and his parents; Thomas and Molly. Sadly missed by his sons Charles, Michael, Shane and Jason, daughters-in-law and partners, grandchildren, his brother Gerry (Faughill, Cloone), sister-in-law Angela, nieces, nephews and extended family. Michael's burial will take place on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. A Memorial mass will be held for Michael in St Mary's Church, Cloone on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 10.00am. 

Michael Patrick Greene, Strokestown, Roscommon


The death occurred, peacefully, in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 of Michael Patrick Greene, of Birmingham, and formerly of Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Anthony, Tommy, Johnny and sister Mary and wives Kitty and Maureen. Michael deeply regretted and remembered by his sisters Peggy and Nancy and brother-in-law Tom Fisher, and John Orahoe, daughter Pamela, son-in-law Lou sons Kieran and Adrian, daughter-in-laws, Helen and Caroline, grandchildren, Nicholas, Eleanor, Alexis, Talia, Francesca, Marijka, Lorna, Cairstine and Patric. Great grandchildren, Harry, Rory, Conor and Douglas. Also by his many nephews and nieces.
Requiem Mass on Friday, January 27 at 11:30 am at St Joseph's and Helen's Kings Norton, Birmingham, followed by cremation at Lodge Hill Crematorium, Selly Oak, Birmingham. May he rest in peace.
