Uisce Éireann is continuing to advance essential water network upgrades in Ballymahon. Once complete, the project will provide a more reliable and secure water supply, reduce leakage, minimise the risk of supply disruptions, and future‑proof the network to support continued growth in the area.

Works on the N55 are now nearing completion, where over 5 kms of watermains are being upgraded. Crews will then progress to the Newcastle Road, where almost 4 kms of water mains will be replaced as part of the next phase of works.

Speaking about the project, Dave Murphy, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “We are committed to ensuring Ballymahon and the surrounding areas have a more resilient and reliable water supply for the future. By replacing vulnerable sections of ageing mains, we are significantly reducing leakage and strengthening the network for local homes and businesses. We greatly appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we carry out these essential works, which will deliver long‑term benefits for the community.”

To safely progress to the next stage of commissioning the new infrastructure, customers in the Ballymahon and Kilcurry areas may experience low water pressure or temporary loss of supply between 9am and 1pm next Wednesday (4 February 2026). Further planned outages will be required in the coming weeks, and details will be communicated in advance. Supply will return gradually once works are complete and the network has time to recharge.
