There was a positive update on home energy upgrades being carried out at St Matthew’s Park and some comments on the urgency of progressing the construction of 13 houses in Drinan at last week's monthly meeting of Ballymahon Municipal District.

Local representatives heard the Energy Efficiency Retrofit works are well advanced and on course to be completed by the end of January.

The works involve the installation of new triple glazed windows and doors, external insulation, P.V (Photovoltaic) panels and upgrades to the heating systems.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat O'Toole praised the work being done and he asked for an update on future energy upgrade work.
"I want to compliment the council staff in housing in relation to St Matthews and those first 19 houses that have been retrofitted, it's a fantastic job.”

Cllr O'Toole said the improvements had made a huge difference and would improve the quality of life for local residents.

"I'd love to have it done on my own house, it's a magic piece of work, brilliant finish and everything and the residents and tenants there should be very pleased with that,” he added.

Cllr O'Toole said there are 46 local authority houses in St Matthew's Park and he asked when the remaining houses would be retroffited in order to complete the St Matthew's Park energy upgrade work in the estate.

Cllr O'Toole was informed that council staff would look into that and get back to him in due course.
