Alfie, a 17 month old miniature schnauzer from Newtownforbes, was recently crowned Ireland’s Nose of Tralee following a global vote.
Newtownforbes’ celebrity miniature schnauzer Alfie, fresh from his Nose of Tralee triumph, was snapped catching up on his post-win press, starting with this week's edition of the Longford Leader!
Alfie first made headlines after he was selected from more than 1,800 entries nationwide to compete against 31 other finalists, including 29 dogs, two cats and a goat, proudly representing Longford in the national final.
With a public vote determining the winner, and around 54,000 votes cast during the competition, Alfie ran home with the title after thousands of fans across the world voted for him.

Following his win, Alfie’s owners, Gary Keenan and Harrison Reilly, told the Longford Leader they were absolutely delighted with the result and grateful for the incredible support he received.

They said Longford had really thrown its support behind Alfie throughout this exciting journey.
Explained Harrison, “We are just so overwhelmed and in total shock with the love and support the Longford community has shown Alfie.”
“From friends, family and neighbours sharing his poster around on social media and WhatsApp groups; local businesses allowing us to display posters and local media and groups sharing posts and articles, Longford has really come through for our little bearded gentleman!”
