Teenage girls across Longford are being invited to get out on the water this summer as part of a FREE watersports programme designed to introduce participants to paddle sports in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
Girls Gone Paddling is open to girls aged 12 to 17 and is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some paddling experience.
The programme aims to help participants build confidence, learn new skills, make new friends and enjoy Longford's waterways under the guidance of qualified instructors.
Three evening sessions have been scheduled, each one an evening activity, beginning at 6.30pm, on the following dates:
- Thursday, August 20: paddle boarding in Brannigan Harbour near Ballymahon
- Thursday, August 27: sit-in kayaking in Abbeyshrule (booked out)
- Thursday, September 3: lake trip in Lanesboro
All equipment will be provided, qualified instructors will be on hand at all times, and participation is free of charge.
While the activities are free, places are limited and advance booking from tickettailor (here) is essential.
