Longford was described as “the most forgotten place in Ireland” by The 2 Johnnies on their recent podcast with Johnnie B also revealing he is currently writing a song about the county.
Longford has found itself at the centre of an unexpected debate after one of The 2 Johnnies named it as a contender for Ireland’s most forgotten-about place.
In a humorous exchange on their hit podcast, Johnny B made the controversial suggestion, with the Tipperary pair later asking listeners on their social media if they agreed with his choice.
“Longford get’s a little bit forgotten about, doesn’t it?” Johnny B said on the podcast, to which his co-host, Johnny Smacks, replied, “I’m always kind of surprised when I meet someone and I say, ‘Where are you from?’ and if they say, ‘I’m from Longford’, I’ll be like, ‘Oh!’”
Joked Johnny B, “I’d forgotten about you guys!”
“Imagine, Smacks, we could just like go to Edgeworthstown!” he said, prompting a burst of laughter from Smacks.
Johnny B went on, “This time tomorrow man, we could be sippin’ champagne in Ballymahon. We could be playin’ a game of slaps in Ballinamuck! We should just do it like!”
“We should explore Longford,” Smacks agreed.
It was at this point that Johnny B said his next song was about Longford, adding, “It’s top secret now, even Smacks hasn’t heard it. I told him about it and he wasn’t impressed but we’ll see what happens.”
Joked Smacks, “I don’t hold out hope.”
Johnny B continued, “You just need to believe in Longford man! That’s your problem. You don’t believe in Longford. You’re a Longford denier!”
