The third annual Brian Collum Chess Tournament was held on Friday March 3 last in Newtownforbes, in memory of all-Ireland champion Brian Collum, who was a lover of chess.
We spoke to Brian's mother, Bernie, organiser of the event, Pat McCarrick, and John Conlon of Checkmates about the tournament itself and the benefits to playing chess at a young age.
