A self-described 'kitesurf adrenaline junkie' was seen being launched 30 metres into the air while kitsurfing during Storm Ashley on Sunday.
Ivan Tamborero shared footage of his airtime online, as winds reached 130km/h in some regions nationwide.
Ivan said the jump was "30 meters from flat," and said he was "conquering Storm Ashley as it hit Irish shores".
Tens of thousands of homes remained without power on Sunday night after Storm Ashley swept across the island of Ireland, with dozens of flights cancelled and safety risks issued nationwide.
Many commenters slammed the kitesurfer for what they described as "reckless actions", as waves as high as 19 metres were recorded off the Irish coast.
One reply said Ivan's stunt was "completely irresponsible when people were told to avoid the coast".
"Had it all gone wrong our emergency services life’s would have been put a risk," they added.
