Longford #LE24: Cllr Seamus Butler happy with Fianna Fáil's vote management in Longford municipal district

"We are still in with a fighting chance to do a deal to take back control of Longford County Council like we did in 2014 ."

Fianna Fáil's Seamus Butler is one of four candidates in Longford Municipal District that, according to tallies, will exceed the quota on the first count.

Butler (1,024) and his FF colleague Martin Monaghan (1,049) are well clear of the predicted 845 quota as are Fine Gael's Gerry Hagan (1.051) and Peggy Nolan (882).

FF's two other candidates in Longford MD Uruemu Adejinmi (424) and Kevin Hussey (443) are also well in the hunt to capture seats and Cllr Butler expressed satisfaction at how the party managed their vote.

"We did manage the vote the very well which wasn't by accident, it was done by design. It is almost definite we'll secure the fourth seat which hasn't been done in living memory in the mid Longford area."

He added, "We are still in with a fighting chance to do a deal to take back control of Longford County Council like we did in 2014."
