The extradition hearing of a midlands man, facing a total of 394 charges, including 177 counts of rape and 210 counts of sexual assault, was adjourned in Albany, New York yesterday.
It is alleged that he sexually abused two minors, who he came in to contact with through his involvement with the GAA in the midlands, between 2004 and 2009.
The man, who fled Ireland in 2013, was arrested last week by the US Department of Homeland Security, with assistance from Guilderland police.
He was located by investigators who confirmed his address using surveillance and by tracking utility and postal records.
He appeared in court on Thursday, January 17 and was remanded in custody ahead of yesterday's extradition hearing (Friday, January 25) which was adjourned until next week at the defendant's request.
RTÉ News reports that the defendant was remanded back in to the custody of the United States Marshals Service and he will appear in court again, next Friday, February 1.
