Man of the Match Patrick Fox reveals Mullinalaghta ‘weren’t going to die wondering’

Inspirational full back Patrick Fox was chosen as the AIB Leinster Club SFC Final Man of the Match for the superb manner in which he put the shackles on Kilmacud Crokes danger man Paul Mannion and he revealed afterwards that he and his Mullinalaghta team mates ‘weren’t going to die wondering’ about what it was like to win a provincial club title.

“We always believed we could do it,” insisted Fox, who restricted the influence of Mannion to the minimum during Mullinalaghta’s magnificent 1-8 to 1-6 victory in Bord na Móna O’Connor Park, Tullamore.

The tenacious and tight marking full back also said he was delighted to see Gary Rogers’ penalty go in, the strike that ultimately put daylight between the sides and ensured Mullinalaghta, the first Longford club to ever contest an AIB Leinster club senior final, also became the first to bring home the silverware.
