Longford was a hive of activity this past weekend, as the first Love Longford festival got underway throughout the town.
From Thursday, June 27, to Sunday, June 30, events were planned to celebrate one of Longford’s main Gathering events.
With the literary awards, pop-up exhibitions, family fun day, the midland’s biggest choir and music on the market square, along with many other events and activities, the Love Longford festival catered for all ages and tastes.
Another main feature of the festival was the public art installations which brightened up the Market Square for the weekend. Luis na Greinne Men’s Group, Ardscoil Padraig Granard, the Attic Youth Group and St Christopher’s training centre all contributed towards the festival, putting their time and creativity into their pieces under the theme of “Love Longford”.
It was all about community spirit for the weekend, with young and old gathering together to celebrate their hometown.
