Longford boxing giant Tommy Stokes preparing for prestigious Euro event

Super heavyweight competing in European Championship in Croatia

Standing tall at 6 foot-9 inches, Longford boxing giant Tommy Stokes is currently preparing for the European Championship in Croatia in a few weeks time.

In training at a high performance camp in Dublin, 19-year-old Tommy from Lisnanagh, Edgeworthstown has won two Irish U-18 titles and two Irish U-23 titles (the last success in August).

Affiliated to Athlone Boxing Club under the guidance of coaches Rory Parkes and Olympian Joe Ward, the son of Margaret and Kevin Stokes is making Longford proud with his exploits in the ring.

In the recent past, the towering Tommy has also competed for Ireland at the World U-18 Championship in Montenegro but suffered the misfortune of breaking his hand which kept him out of action for a while.

But the super heavyweight boxer is back better than ever and his focus is firmly fixed on the forthcoming European Championship.
