After much anticipation and, more importantly, a huge amount of work and preparation, the 20th annual Longford Variety Show prepares to hit the Backstage Theatre for three nights next week.

This year's show is called 'Thank Longford For The Music' and celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Longford Variety Group.

“This year's show is the culmination of ten weeks of hard work to compile the very best in Longford talent, spearheaded by myself with the help of Charlie Murray and Christine Treacy,” said organiser Brian Murray.

“We are so grateful to Fintan Farrelly who was the vocal coach and did all the vocal work for the acts this year.

“The show is choreographed once again by Amy Duignan with help from Shawbrook Dance.

“Mary Ann Lynch and Sylvia Johnson are the dance captains and the show will also feature the Peelo School of Dance.”

Comedy, Brian continued, is once again spearheaded by the hilarious John Kelly, with Maureen Dunne also ready to make the crowds laugh.

The pair will be ably assisted by Benny O'Brien, Nicky Byrne and Niamh Quinn-Hanley.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Longford Hospice - a very worthy recipient of donations from the Variety Group for the past two decades.

There will also be a raffle on the night with wonderful prizes graciously donated by local businesses.

All proceeds from the raffle will go towards four different local charities.

The Longford Variety Group is doing an open night special for Thursday, November 15, with tickets selling for €10.

Tickets for Friday and Saturday are on sale for €13/€10.
