Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradly is loud in his praise of rising young soccer star Conan Noonan who has a strong Longford connection.

20-year-old Noonan is the son of Longford town native Blathnaid Duggan, now living in Clane Co Kildare, and she was a very proud mother as Conan made his first league start against Drogheda United on Friday night last.

The game at Weavers Park in Drogheda ended scoreless and exciting prospect Noonan is growing in stature after making four previous appearances off the bench this year.

Rovers boss Bradley said: “He’s only young but he’s got ability, real top-level ability so we’ve just got to be patient with him, put him in and take him out at the right times and I’m sure you’ll see that over the next year or 18 months.”
