Just when it seemed that Longford Town were on the way to only their second win in the SSE Airtricity League First Division this season, one of their former players Conor Davis struck to score the equaliser in the 80th minute of the match at Bishopsgate on Saturday night last.

Longford Town . . . 1    Bray Wanderers . . . 1

It was a cruel blow for the home side who had taken the lead through Joshua Giurgi with just ten minutes gone on the clock and were denied a killer second goal in the 64th minute when a superb strike from Aodh Dervin appeared to be wrongly ruled out for offside as the linesman raised his flag.

There would have been no way back for Bray had they fallen further behind at that stage and they went on to snatch a fortunate draw when Davis fired the ball into the corner of the net with time running out, much to the sheer dismay of the Town supporters in the 399 attendance.

There were anxious moments for both sides in the search for a late winner and luckless Longford almost picked up all three vital points when Giurgi smacked the ball against the crossbar in the fourth and final minute of additional time.

The rebound broke straight into the path of substitute Mohammed Boudiaf but he somehow failed to find the back of the net in blasting a shot over the bar from three yards out.

Longford Town are back in action away to Finn Harps on Friday night next, quickly followed by the visit of the unbeaten league leaders Galway United to Bishopsgate on the Bank Holiday Monday.
