7-a-side Leagues 1st Phase
The 1st Phase of the under 9, under 10 and under 11 Leagues should be concluded before Christmas. It is important that all teams finish their programme of matches before Christmas. In previous years it has arisen that Groups A,B and C were finished; but there were 2 matches left in Group D. These two matches can hold up the progress of all other teams in that age group. The League Tables are available on our website http://www.ldssl.leaguerepublic.com/ . They are updated on Sunday nights if the results have been sent in to 086 601 8962. Home team and referee should send in results. You can also find us on Facebook where there are team photos and more results. The Longford League is hosted by the website http://www.leaguerepublic.com The top 100 websites are listed there; Longford have been rising very high in the charts in recent weeks. Indeed Longford were in the top 10 at one stage last season.

Dates for your Diary
The draw for the last 32 of the SFAI cup will take place on Saturday 8th December. Meanwhile the Inter league draws were made last week and Longford will compete at U-12, U-13 and U-15 level. We are grouped with Athlone, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon in all age groups with the first games on the week-end 11/12th January 2013. The Kennedy Cup draw will take place in March 2013. The managers for this season are U-12 Michael Nevin, U-13 James Dermody and U-15 Denis O’Brien. The Kennedy Cup manager for 2013 is Mickey Phillips.
The U-13 team will play the Midland League in Abbeycartron on Sunday 9th December. The U-14 Kennedy Cup team will travel to Portlaoise on Sunday 6th January to play the Midland League. It is hoped that all Inter league teams will have at least one friendly over the Christmas.
SFAI U-12 Cup
Stonepark are through to the next round of the SFAI Cup after beating Colga from Galway 3-2 after extra-time. Matthew Duffy played well in goal behind a solid unit well marshalled by Dylan Reilly and Rory Howlin. Jake Taylor was a handful for the Colga rearguard. Rory Nicholson took his goals well with Mark McCord getting the third goal.
U-15 League
UCL Harps returned to winning ways on Saturday when they came from two goals down to record an impressive win over Kenagh United at Abbeycartron. Kenagh started the brighter and had Harps on the back foot for the opening twenty minutes. In fact Michael Burke and Josh Madigan both scored to put Kenagh two up. However Harps slowly worked themselves back into the game with Ciaran McKeon, Rory Hawkins and Liam Gorman all playing leading roles. Harps were 4-2 in front at half- time. Danny Ellis, Brian McGee, Shane Hamilton and Hawkins were on target. The second half was a one-sided affair with Aaron McGee, Ellis, Hamilton and Brian McGee all finding the net as Harps produced their best display of the season.
U-10 League
Kenagh United were no match for a rampant Raharney United and with Sean Leech and Bobby Kelly leading the charge they soon took control. Matthew Brennan, Michael Doherty and Aaron Reidy were superb for the winners. Josh Healy scored a consolation goal for the home side.
Rahanine were impressive winners over Mostrim with Luke Ryan, Matthew Doyle and Robert Phelan getting their names on the score sheet.
On a frosty morning Ardagh United went down by the odd goal in three to visitors UCL Panthers. Melisa O’Kane scored for the home side with Joe Reilly and Cormac Brady on target for Panthers.
U-14 League
Melview beat Ballyboro 6-3 at Abbeycartron on Sunday. On a cold foggy morning the fare on offer was excellent as both sides overcame the difficult conditions to provide the watching faithful with an enjoyable contest. Not for the first time Aodh Dervin was the main man. Dervin covered every inch of ground and bagged four goals. The goal he headed home from an Aaron McTiernan corner was the pick of the bunch. McTiernan scored himself as did Gerard Flynn. Adam Phillips, Jack Carey and Frank McKiernan were others to impress for Melview. Jordon Donlon, Max Webb and Niall Casey netted for Ballyboro. Camlin United beat Mostrim 3-2. Darragh Conroy scored a penalty. Martin Doyle and Evans Ouidug were also on target. Mostrim keeper Liam Sheridan scored from the spot for his side. Oisin Stakem set up the second goal for David Callaghan.
U-12 League
Melview made it five league wins in a row when they beat neighbours and rivals Camlin United 2-0. Mark O’Boyle was superb for the winners and his through ball played in Mark King for the first Melview goal. Daniel Reynolds slotted home the second. Camlin keeper Mark Rowe played well. Jake Neary and Charles Hunt also caught the eye for Camlin.
