Longford Town goalkeeper Jack Brady, the saviour in the scoreless draw against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle grounds on Friday night

A stunning last gasp save on to the post by keeper Jack Brady ensured that Longford Town earned a point at the Carlisle Grounds in the scoreless stalemate against Bray Wanderers on Friday night last,  the midlanders third successive draw in the SSE Airtricity League First Division campaign.

Bray Wanderers . . . 0    Longford Town . . . 0

It was Bray who had the best chance of the first half in stoppage time. Joe Power latched on to a Shane Elworthy headed clearance and played a superb ball into the feet of Harry Groome on the left edge of the Town box.

Groome stepped back inside, and curled a low shot towards the bottom right corner of the Longford net, but keeper Brady produced a fine save to palm away the shot with Walker firing over the rebound from twelve yards out.

On seventy-four minutes, Longford came very close to finding the Bray net. Ibrahim whipped in a dangerous low cross from the left that just evaded the lunge of Giurgi when any touch at all would have directed the ball into the net.

Bray almost snatched victory deep into stoppage time. A cross from the right from Ben Feeney was just behind Walker, but Walker brilliantly adjusted his body, flicked the ball up and his clever overhead shot seemed destined for the Longford net, only for Town keeper Brady to magnificently palm the ball on to the post with the ball eventually cleared to safety.

Next up for the Town is a home match against Finn Harps at Bishopsgate on Saturday night March 18 with the game kicking-off at 7.30pm.
