Longford County Choir's May gala concert concert with soprano Claudia Boyle

Longford County Choir’s May gala concert, with special guest Claudia Boyle, takes place on Sunday, May 26 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 7.30pm.

The concert will feature a performance of Luigi Cherubini’s Requiem in C minor (1816) with orchestra conducted by Fintan Farrelly. One of the most highly regarded sacred works of its time, admired by Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, the performance is dedicated to the memory of proud Longford man, Matt Farrelly, a member and loyal supporter of the choir and of the arts who died in October 2023.

It is the choir’s fervent wish that the performance of the Requiem will bring comfort and hope to those who have lost loved ones.

Special guest on May 26 is coloratura soprano Claudia Boyle, a national treasure who is equally at home on opera and concert stages.
