Longford County Council: Dublin Rd traffic to be assessed

Traffic disruptions on the Dublin Road approach to Longford town caused by high volumes of cars coming out of a major retailer will be “looked at” by Longford County Council roads department.

The difficulty was raised at a Longford Municipal District meeting by Cllr Peggy Nolan who asked: “I have been approached by a number of members of the public about the problems of getting in and out of Dunnes Stores. In the run up to Christmas those problems are going to be more pronounced. It is a major artery going into the town. Is there anything that can be done about it?”

In his reply Senior Executive Engineer with Longford County Council Eamonn Bennett said the local authority will examine the issue: “We will look at it and see what can be done,” he said.
