Longford County Council have issued notice regarding the temporary closing of roads under the Roads Act to facilitate the Dead of Night Halloween Procession 2023.
“Longford County Council hereby gives notice that it has made an order to close the roads in Longford town,” the local authority said.
The hours of closure are 5pm to 9:30pm. On completion of the procession, roads may open when safe to allow access, which could be in advance of advertised time.
The Parade route is from Mollaghans Carpark turning left onto Ballymahon Street, proceeding down Main Street, Bridge Street and into Connolly Barracks
The roads to be closed are frome Mollaghans Car park, Earl Street, Ballymahon Street, Main Street and Bridge Street.
To include the junctions of: Battery Road and Abbeycartron; Church Street and Fee Court; Main Street and Little Water Street; Great Water Street and Camlin View; Sandy Row and Richmond Street; New Street and Dublin Street: Dublin St and Dublin Road; Ballymahon Road and Park Road; Ballymahon Street and Market Square; Harbour Row and Market Square; Connaught Road and Flancare Road; and Kilashee St and Flancare Road.
The alternative routes will see all through traffic requested to use the N4 and N5 Longford Town By-passes.
Traffic management signed diversions will be in place for local traffic. There will be no parking on Main Street from 3pm until 9pm on Tuesday 31 October
