Man armed with a knife arrested on board Tullamore train

A man was arrested on board a Dublin to Galway train in Tullamore on Wednesday evening after being found in possession of a knife.

Gardaí responded to Tullamore Train Station at approximately 4:40pm on Wednesday following reports of a man acting aggressively.

A 50-year-old man was subsequently arrested at the scene and taken to Tullamore Garda Station.

He was found to be in possession of a penknife and a small amount of cannabis.

The man was charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear before Portlaoise District Court.
