RIP: Man (50s) dies in fatal road crash on busy road in Offaly amid witness appeal

A fatal road traffic collision involving a man (50's) and a car occurred in Offaly on Wednesday night last.

The collision occurred on the N62 at Killeenboy in Cloghan in Offaly shortly after 11pm.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was brought to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

There were no other injuries reported.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently carrying out a technical examination of the scene and the road remains closed.

Local diversions are in place and motorists, particularly the drivers of heavy goods vehicles, are asked to travel via Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10pm to 11.30pm, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
