Tributes have been pouring in for a man who suddenly died in Sydney, Australia.
Jamie Sandhu died on May 3 at the age of 31. He was originally from Strabane, Tyrone.
A fundraiser was set up to repatriate him home to his family.
"Our beloved son, partner, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Jamie Sandhu, died suddenly at 31 year-old in Sydney, Australia. Jamie was such an amazing and special person and his loss is felt by all of us. Jamie loved life and was so loved. As a family we will be forever indebted to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust for all they did to bring Jamie home to us to Ireland so that we could give him rest," said his family on a GoFundMe campaign.
The family said that at one of the hardest moments of their lives, the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust were able to organise bringing Jamie home.
"The work they do is absolutely amazing and takes a load off grieving families by bringing their loved ones home. If you are able to donate or help spread the word and share our fundraising page, we would really appreciate this. We would like to raise as much money and awareness as we possibly can for this charity which is close to our hearts. We will be having various fundraising events in the coming months in Jamie’s name," said the family.
Since the tragic news broke out, tributes have been pouring in for Jamie, who has been described as a "wickedly smart" man.
"Class mate, sparring partner, drinking buddy, friend. Jamie Sandhu was one in a million. I genuinely looked up to him. Wickedly smart, hilariously funny. I still can't quite believe he's gone. He definitely got the send off he deserved. Thank you for the memories Jamie, rest easy, fly high," paid a friend in tribute.
"Today, I’ve had to say the hardest goodbye I have ever said in my life. Thank you Jamie for always being there, you’re going to be so unbelievably missed. I’ll never forget that big giddy laugh. I know I’ll see you again some day. Until then… love you forever my beautiful big brother, sleep tight," wrote his sister in tribute.
Jamie was laid to rest on May 25.
