Faulty earmuffs popular with Irish builders recalled due to potential hearing damage

Faulty earmuffs popular with Irish builders are being recalled due to problems with the product's structure. 

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), 3M is carrying out the recall of 3M Peltor X4 Series Earmuffs due to potential damage to hearing as visible cracks may develop in the cups. 

The affected earmuffs were manufactured between March 2020 through September 2022. 

This product was made available for purchase within the Republic of Ireland by the distributors listed below: 

  • M Kelliher 1998 Ltd 
  • M.A. Healy & Sons Ltd 
  • O'Sullivan Safety Ltd 
  • Anderco Safety (Ireland) Ltd 
  • J.L. Bradshaw & Co Ltd 
  • Production Equipment Unlimited 
  • Caulfield Industrial Ltd 
  • James Boylan Safety Ltd 
  • MJ Scannell Safety 
  • Atlantic Advanced Safety

Customers should stop using the product immediately. 

3M’s distributors will be in contact with the affected customers in relation to the recall. For further information in relation to the recall customers should contact their point of purchase.
