Suspected explosion prompts evacuation of Dublin building

Emergency services have responded to a suspected explosion at a residential premises in Dublin city centre.

Dublin Fire Brigade and gardai were called to the scene on Little Britain Street off Capel Street following reports of an explosion inside the building after 3.30pm.

A garda spokesman said: “Residents have been evacuated and a cordon and local traffic diversions are in place.

“Fire Services currently have primacy at the scene.

“No further information is available at this time.

“Updates will follow.”

It is understood that gardai did not suspect foul play in their initial assessment of the scene.

Dublin Fire Brigade advised that traffic diversions are in place.
