Today - January 25 - is the day when people are most likely to consider buying a car, according to Carzone.

While people are waiting on their first pay day after Christmas, they say that January is also the time that many of us start to think about buying a new car.

Based on data from previous years and monitoring traffic visiting the site and apps, Carzone, Ireland’s trusted motoring marketplace predicts that Wednesday 25th of January is the day when motorists are most likely to consider buying a car.

When it comes to the type of car to purchase, the car-buying experts at Carzone have compiled a list of the most popular cars by segment based on the most searched 231 models on the site.

The Hyundai Tucson has taken over from the Volkswagen Golf as the most popular car on the website, but the Golf remains the most viewed petrol model.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 takes over from the Audi e-tron as the most-searched-for electric car. The Mazda CX-60 takes the top spot for the most popular hybrid car whilst the Volkswagen Arteon is the most searched diesel car.

The most searched 231 models on Carzone:
