A man living in Longford, who was previously convicted for possession of cocaine and MDMA, is looking for the early return of his driving licence.
Philip County, 13 River Park, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford has lodged an application with Longford District Court to remove a four year driving ban which was issued in January 2020.
Mr County was put off the road after he pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.
The date of the disqualification became effective on February 1 2020.
Under current legislation, a motorist must have served at least half of the period of disqualification before submitting an application to the courts.
Solicitor for Mr County, Frank Gearty said he had received a letter from a sergeant in Granard to inform him that there was an additional disqualification to the four year ban which was on the courts file.
“I hadn't been aware of (the disqualification) and I am asking for a short adjournment,” said Mr Gearty.
Judge Bernadette Owens acceded to that request and adjourned proceedings until May 23.
Mr County was released from Castlerea Prison last July having served two years for possession of cocaine and MDMA.
It followed a raid at his home in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, in October 2017.
