A young man accused of attempting to kill another man with a car will go before the Circuit Court in May.
Eamon Stokes (22) of 66 Gleann Riada, Strokestown Road Longford will answer the charge that on October 31, 2021 he drove a white Audi at an injured party, Gerard Donohoe, on numerous occasions to create a substantial risk of death or serious harm.
A second charge of threatening to kill Gerard Donohoe will also be dealt with by the Circuit Court. Sergeant Adrian Dockery gave evidence of serving the Book of Evidence to Mr Stokes on the day of the District Court sitting.
Inspector David Jordan asked the judge to return the matter for trial in Longford Circuit Criminal Court on May 9, next.
The court was told the defendant is in custody and solicitor Fiona Baxter said there was no application for bail.
Ms Baxter said although disclosure had been made there was still some CCTV footage outstanding. Legal aid was granted to cover Ms Baxter and one junior counsel.
Judge Bernadette Owens issued the defendant with an alibi warning and then adjourned the matter to the May 9 sitting of the Circuit Court in Longford.
