The TY Economics trip

Transition Year Home Economics Trip
On February 11, our TY students embarked on an exciting and engaging home economics trip. Accompanied by Ms O'Farrell and Ms Killian, the students visited Gowan Home, where they saw the latest Shark, Deitrich, Normende, Ninja, and many more home appliances in operation.

The day finished with a very interesting tour of the Newbridge Silverware factory and the Style Icon Museum. The students thoroughly enjoyed the educational and beneficial outing! Thank you to Ms O’ Farrell and Ms Killian for organising the trip.

Basketball
By Georgia Brady
Congratulations to our First and Second Year Basketball teams who were successful in their matches against the Convent of Mercy, Ballymahon, in The Mall, on February 11, 2026. We were also delighted with the progress evident in our Wings Development Team on the day. Thank you to all the coaching team for their dedication.

First Year Rugby Blitz
Our First Year Rugby Team participated in a blitz in Tullamore RFC on Tuesday against Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré and St Mary’s Edenderry, organised by Leinster Rugby. The challenging weather conditions did not dampen the spirit or quality of play. The team showed great improvement in their skills and teamwork since the last blitz, with confident performances and excellent effort across all matches. It is fantastic to see how quickly the team are developing and growing in the game. We would like to congratulate everyone involved and extend our gratitude to the Leinster Rugby coaches for their continued support and organisation on the day!

TY Barista Class
Our TY class enjoyed participating in an introductory barista course on Tuesday, February 10 last. The class was facilitated by Daniel from ‘The Grind’. The course covered the functions of the espresso machine and grinder, preparation and extraction of espresso, latte art techniques, and the correct storage of coffee beans and milk. The students then proceeded to make various coffees. The students then shared their delicious caffeine creations with the staff who were delighted to receive cups of warm coffee on a dreary wet Tuesday afternoon! The students received a certificate in introductory barista training at the conclusion of the day’s training course. Thank you to all the students who engaged so enthusiastically with this wonderful opportunity. Thanks also to Ms Devaney for organising this worthwhile and practical class.
