The Midlands Polish community hosted their first-ever Great Orchestra Of Christmas Charity (Polish: WOŚP) Finale in Longford on Saturday, January 24.

This special fundraising event took place as part of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) fundraising — one of the largest charity campaigns in Poland and worldwide, which has been held annually for the last 34 years.

The event took place across two locations - Pig Lane Market and PV’s - allowing it to reach a wider audience and provide a space for fun, socialising and community engagement.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of attractions, including a practical first aid course led by a local firefighter, road safety talk by the Garda and more.

Entertainment featured a performance by a group of Vikings, live music and a craft fair.

Organisers emphasised that the event would not have been possible without the dedication of volunteers, sponsors, and the Longford community, which once again showed immense kindness and support.

The event was organised by the Midland Polish Community CLG, which has long worked to promote the integration of Poles in the region.

This year, the fundraising campaign carried the slogan “Healthy Tummies for Our Children,” and the collected funds will be used to purchase specialised equipment for treating children with digestive system illnesses in Polish hospitals.
