Longford ladies found the going extremely tough on Saturday afternoon as they were comprehensively beaten by Leinster Intermediate champions Meath in their Lidl National League Division 3 game in Dunganny.
Talented forward Vikki Wall got Meath’s first goal in the 22nd minute as the Royal County surged ahead by 1-6 to no score.
They added two more goals to their scoreline prior to halftime as they completely dominated proceedings.
Longford forward Lauren Burke got her side’s only point near the end of the first half but Meath tagged on four more points to lead by 3-10 to 0-1 going in at the break.
Aoibhin Cleary and Niamh Gallogly scored Meath’s fourth and fifth goals as Longford struggled to get into the game against a physical and talented Meath side.
It got worse for Longford near the end as Meath scored two more goals to leave 34 points between the sides at the end; proof of the gulf of class between the two teams.
