The Government has announcement it intends to invest €6M to expand five emergency departments across the country, including Mullingar Regional Hospital. This funding will play a key role in enhancing emergency care services and improving patient outcomes in the region.
The €6 million investment will enable the expansion of critical services in five emergency departments, ensuring that hospitals can better manage increasing patient volumes and provide quicker, more efficient care in times of need.
Speaking on the announcement, Senator Micheál Carrigy said: “This is a significant and welcome investment in our healthcare system. The expansion of the emergency department at Mullingar Regional Hospital will directly benefit the people of Longford and Westmeath by improving access to essential emergency care.
"It's crucial that we continue to build on the healthcare infrastructure in our region to meet the growing demands of our population.”
Senator Carrigy further stated: “I have been actively advocating for greater support and investment in our healthcare services, and this announcement reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of our hospitals. This expansion will also help alleviate pressure on emergency departments and create a better working environment for healthcare staff.”
He concluded: “I will continue to work closely with my colleagues in Government to ensure that the necessary resources are provided to our local hospitals, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this investment will have on our communities.”
