Next Monday, April 6th, Easter Monday, sees the culmination of months of hard work and training from local athletes and clubs both in North Westmeath and further afield in preparation for the Ringtown Easter Half Marathon and 10K. The 10K event starts at 11am and the Half Marathon starts at 11.15am. The event is AAI approved, and chip timing by www.precisiontiming.net. Both events will start close to Whitehall Church and follow the regular route through Templanstown, Kiltoom, Old Kiltoom, back onto the main Mullingar road, with a second lap for the Half Marathon competitors. Proceeds from the event will be shared between Ringtown GAA and TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accommodation, Mullingar). All finishers will receive a medal. Shower facilities, refreshments and prize giving will take place in Ringtown GAA clubhouse. Refreshments, marshalling and medical cover will be available on the day, and hopefully the notoriously variable Irish spring weather will co-operate on the day and result in a dry and pleasant outing for all involved.
Honda 50 run
Club 50, the local Honda 50 enthusiasts club, are holding their annual Easter Charity Run on Easter Sunday next, April 5th. Registration takes place in the Ringtown GAA Clubhouse at 10.30am, and the event gets under way 12.00 noon, following a varied 50km route. Refreshments, showers, raffles and prizegiving will take place after the event in the Clubhouse. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Baby Aine Boyhan Galligan fund. Hopefully the weather will cooperate on the day.
