Bowls
Bowls resumed on Thursday 5th September and we had our A.G.M. Jimmy McDermott chairman, Dean Victory secretary, Paschal Lyons, treasurer and Brendan Quaine, assistant treasurer, Marie Farrell P.R.O. Good luck to Dean Victory who has taken on secretary of Westmeath Bowls. We had a challenge game with Streete and thank them for travelling down. We play bowls every Thursday night 8 to 10 pm. New players welcome, first night free.

Harvest.
Thanksgiving for Harvest in Church of Ireland over the coming weeks. There will be Harvest thanksgiving Service in the Ardagh Group of Church of Ireland parishes as follows. Sunday September 29th at 3pm in Tashinny Church. Sunday October13th at 3pm in Kenagh Church .There will be special visiting preacher at each service. Both services will be followed by tea. Everybody is welcome. In the words of the lovely hymn “Come, ye thankful people, come raise the song of harvest –home.

Bereavement
The death took place on Thursday last of Jimmy Bannon, Barney to his brother Vincent, sisters Maise Kiernan, Lily Garvey, Ethna Noonan, their families relatives and friends, we extend our deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace.
Healthy Events
We hope that many children have watched our YouTube video about the Healthy Events 2013 project that we entered in the National HSE Community Games competition. When you watch it be sure to press ‘Like’ so we get lots of hits! Brigette Lynch Scott & Leslie Finnan prepared a very colourful display book with lots of pictures of all the children enjoying so many AMG Community Games activities and the entry has gone in to meet the judging panel.
Good luck
Good luck to all the children from St Mel’s NS who will be running in the Co. Longford Primary Schools Cross Country Race on Saturday in Moyne. Everyone to be there at 4pm. Teams representing 3rd & 4th class girls, 3rd & 4th class boys and 5th & 6th class boys will all take part. Thanks to Caitriona Hayden, Sinead Gallagher, Leslie Finnan and Paddy McPhillips for organising training sessions for all the interested students.
Coffee morning
Hospice Coffee Morning to benefit a very worthy cause –Longford Hospice, tomorrow morning, Thursday September 19th at the Ardagh Heritage Centre from 9:30 am- 12 noon. Everyone in the parish welcome to stop in for a cup of tea and scones. All donations most appreciated. Please come and join Ireland’s biggest coffee morning campaign.
Taster evening
All branches of the Ardagh Girl Guides will be having a taster evening on Thursday 19th September 6:30-7:30, come along and see what we get up to in our meetings and whether it’s for you! Registrations for new members will be taken that evening, however, Ladybirds is full until the Halloween break. All welcome along!
