Contact any club officer or check out the club website Race Nite: The Arva G.A.A. Race Nite which was due to be held in the Goal Post Bar, Arva on Saturday night last was postponed as a Mark of Respect for Club President Sean Conneely who passed away on Friday last. It will be rescheduled in the next few weeks. Championship Final: Arva will play Kill in the Hotel Kilmore Junior Football Championship Final on this Sunday 6th October in Kingspan Breffni Park at 4.00 pm as part of a double bill with the Minor Final at 2.15 pm. This should be an entertaining encounter with Kill having years of experience of playing in Division 2 of the League and a young Arva team hoping to bring success to the club for the first time since they last won this title in 1993. These teams have clashed twice this year already in the league with Kill successful in Rathluden Park while Arva were victorious in the return game at Michael Cully Park. Kill had a good win in the semi final over a highly fancied Shannon Gaels while Arva done well to defeat neighbours Cornafean but will need to up their work rate considerably if they are to be successful. Merchandise: Lynch’s Newsagents and Off-licence Main Street, Arva have Official Club Merchandise for sale. All proceeds go straight back to the Arva Club so we urge everyone to get the club colours and have them for the final. All support will be much appreciated.

These past few weeks has seen a flurry of activity in relation to the registration of Motor Vehicles and Tractors in particular that are off the road. In the past a member of An Garda Síochána could verify if a vehicle was off the road but a new law recently introduced means that it has to be declared in advance if it is going off the road and from the 1st October if that is not done the owner will be liable for back Tax. Many farmers have tractors that never go on the road and as such some were never registered and of course we all leave it to the last minute to regularise these situations. On behalf of the community we thank the local Gardaí under Sergeant Willie Ward for keeping the Station open often when off duty so that people would be facilitated. We also thank the staff in the Motor Taxation offices for their patience and help and hopefully everyone got sorted.

‘The Quare Land’ play starring Seamus O’Rourke and Shane Carroll took place on Saturday night last in the Breffni Arms Hotel Arva with proceeds going to Saint Christopher’s Hospice Cavan. The full house sigh was put up and a number of people were turned away. The play was well received by a very appreciative audience with many hoping to see it again. It was great to see the Function Room in the Hotel open for business following the fire a few months ago.

Anyone who missed the play will have another chance this Friday 5th October in Colmcille Community Centre at 8pm. This play directed and starring Seamus O’ Rourke is drawing huge crowds everywhere it’s staged so be sure to go early and not be disappointed
