CASTLEPOLLARD LIBRARY POSTCARD COMPETITION: The St. Patrick’s Day Postcard Competition organised by Castlepollard Library was once again an outstanding success. 
This year there were more than 600 entries, and the standard was impressively high. thirteen local national schools participated. Presentation of prizes to the winners in the various categories took place in Castlepollard Library on Tuesday, March 12th. Among those prsent were acting County Librarian Ms. Paula O’Dornan, Cllrs. Frank McDermott and Paddy Hill, and Nicoal Brennan-Gavin, Staff Officer, Castlepollard Library. Prizewinners in the various categories were:- Castlepollard PS - Stella Taylor, Sophie Newman; Finea NS - Blanaid Harton, Sophie Flynn; Crowenstown NS - Ciara Houlihan; Fore NS - Keela Nolan, Ciaran English; Coole NS - Jade Butler, Jake Cunningham; Castlepollard NS - Padraig McCarthy, Brendan McMullan; Collinstown NS - Halle Cahill, Jenna Mulcahy; Castletown NS - Ronan Reilly, Oisin Gaffney; Delvin NS - Karina Buha, Larisa Greville, Saskia Millar; Multyfarnham NS - Paddy Wallace, Hannah Hogan; Loughegar NS - Sheila McGrath; Lismacaffrey NS - Roisin Doyle, Cassie Canton; Whitehall NS - Niamh O’Connor, Nathan Smyth. A draw for World Book Day also took place on the day. Prizewinners were - Adult - Deirdre Clogher, Juvenile - Ellie Fitzsimons.

CAUTION: There have been a number of thefts and burglaries in the area over recent weeks. Householders are advised to exercise caution and vigilance when dealing with door to door callers using whatever excuse to try to gain access to their home, or are looking for personal information on them or their neighbours. These people are very skilled at gleaning information, especially the times when neighbours, family or friends are likely to be at Mass, home, the gym, or work. Make a note of any suspicious vehicles in the area, and report anything immediately to the Gardai, family and friends.

SHARE ART GROUP: The next meeting of the Share Art Group takes place in Castlepollard Library on Thursday next, April 4th, between 6.45pm and 7.45pm. All are welcome.

CASTLEPOLLARD BOOK CLUB: The next meeting of Castlepollard Library Book Club will take place in Castlepollard Library on Tuesday evening next, April 9th, between 6.45pm and 7.45pm. The book for discussion on the night will be “Tulip Fever” by Deborah Moggach. New members are welcome.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON CEILI: The local Clann Lir branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann will hold an Afternoon Ceili in Ringtown GAA Centre, Whitehall, Castlepollard, on Sunday next, April 7th, between 4.00pm and 7.00pm. Admission is 10.00 euro, and children accompanied by an adult are free. Music by the Glenside Ceili Band.
